No ceasefire resolution has made it to the draft Berkeley City Council agenda. Anything submitted by boards and commissions for consideration by the City Council is subject to review by the City Manager. Hahn, who has explicitly stated that she opposes a ceasefire resolution, is running for mayor against Kate Harrison and Adena Ishii, both of whom have expressed their support for a ceasefire resolution. The race to lead Britain’s vanquished Conservative Party took a dramatic turn on Wednesday when it narrowed to a clash between two right-wing candidates, a twist that provoked audible gasps of surprise when the result was announced. The choice of two candidates from the right was unexpected, defying the pattern set by the previous round of voting. It set off a whirlwind of theories about how Tory lawmakers, renowned for their Machiavellian instincts, managed to produce an outcome that almost none of them had predicted. James Cleverly, a centrist former minister who was buoyed by a well-received performance at the party’s recent conference, had surged to the front of the field in Tuesday’s voting. But Mr. Cleverly, whose pitch to his party was that it should be “more normal,” was unexpectedly eliminated on Wednesday.

When asked if he condoned the behaviour in hindsight, Haaland said: 'It was in the heat of the moment, and a lot of stuff happened in that game. Things that happen on the football pitch stay there, and that’s how it is.'

Significant advances in technology, falling costs and the shift to home working during the pandemic have brought with them a dramatic increase in workplace surveillance. The rise of workplace surveillance stems from a frantic drive to maximise employee efficiency. Meanwhile, practices such as those of PwC set precedents that threaten to compromise workers’ privacy and allow bosses to reach further into the lives of their staff. With an Employment Rights Bill on the horizon, there’s no better moment to act, but Labour’s commitment to regulate workplace surveillance seems to be softening when it should be making good on these promises. – Susannah Copson is legal and policy officer at Big Brother WatchDONATE TO BIG BROTHER WATCH

Scotland’s fishing industry is a totemic one. Yet the policies being pursued by Labour and the SNP are threatening to undermine the very foundations of Scotland’s fishing heritage. The SNP would enthusiastically drag Scotland’s fishermen back into the hated CFP and cede control of our waters to Brussels. I’ve been a staunch and unapologetic champion of Scotland’s fishing industry during my time in both Westminster and Holyrood. I’ve always believed that our national fisheries resources are non-negotiable, and I’ve consistently fought to defend our fishing communities.
