Pep Guardiola has stressed the importance of players prioritising their clubs by revealing that he has 'never been so angry' as when Manchester City's John Stones was injured in England’s friendly against Belgium earlier this year. Reflecting on the situation Guardiola said 'if it's a friendly game, you cannot come back injured. You are focused. In a friendly game you cannot come back injured when you're playing quarter-finals of the Champions League'

The Times has been curating its picks for the top 12 best trips within the UK with Nelson's County being named third. Writer Mike MacEacheran was impressed by Norwich's independent retailers and the region's vineyards and wineries. Moving out of the city, MacEacheran was also impressed by the wildlife and scenery of the Norfolk Broads. The fens, marshes and woodlands also offer the perfect background for twitchers and to explore the nation's flattest county. Norfolk was held in high esteem being named alongside the tourist hotspots of Edinburgh, London and Northumberland.

I am incredibly concerned about the uneven sidewalks that make up a large part of Santa Barbara streets. I moved here recently and in my exploration of my new home town have fallen twice. Though I am sure there is good reason for the many new round-abouts etc … WHAT ABOUT SIDEWALK MAINTENANCE? Who can I discuss this with who cares & has the authority to look into our ill maintained sidewalks? Thank you for the opportunity to vent my 2 year old concern.

The Times cartoonist Peter Brookes published this on Oct. 18th following the death of Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar. Biden remarked that “shortly after the October 7 massacres“, he “directed Special Operations personnel and…intelligence professionals to work side-by-side with their Israeli counterparts to help locate and track Sinwar and other Hamas leaders hiding in Gaza“. However, the dishonest portrayal of Biden’s reaction to Sinwar’s killing is not the even close to representing the most deceptive element of Brookes’ cartoon. An anonymous account on X posted this extremely apt response to the Times cartoon. As we’ve demonstrated consistently on these pages, with few exceptions, this “ethical degeneration” has been on full display in the British media’s coverage of Israel’s war with the antisemitic extremist group in Gaza.

German media have given an assessment of Manchester United and the Premier LeagueGerman media have taken aim at Manchester United and the Premier League, with one publication insisting “we don’t have to look enviously at England anymore”. United dominated the Premier League for much of the 1990s and 2000s, with the club winning 13 titles under Sir Alex Ferguson. Manchester City are catching them up after clinching eight titles, with Chelsea winning five and Arsenal getting their hands on three. But Sport Bild have claimed the competition’s allure is waning, with the publication writing: “We don't have to look enviously at England anymore. “And let's be honest - nobody wants to watch the games of crisis-hit club Man United anymore.

If you want a proper crisp crust, blind baking is hard to beat. Photograph: Dan Matthews/The Guardian“People seem to find blind baking annoying because they think it’s slightly pointless,” says Gelf Alderson, culinary director at River Cottage and author of Great Pies. “After all, lots of recipes say to blind bake for only 15-20 minutes, which is just not correct.” Instead, he insists, you need to do so for at least 35-40 minutes, and at a low oven temperature, too – 160C-170C (depending on your oven): “If someone has never blind baked for that length of time, they’ll never have seen a really nice result, which is why it would feel a bit pointless.”If you’re dealing with a wet, liquidy filling in an open tart (think custard or chocolate, or an eggy quiche), and you want a fine, crisp pastry case, you simply won’t achieve this any other way, says Shaheen Peerbhai, chef-owner of Miel Bakery in London, adding that it’s worth remembering that the crust is “part of the experience, and not just a case. It’s important to respect that and give it its dues.”

Lebanese police stormed an abandoned building in Beirut on Monday to evict hundreds of people who had been squatting there after being displaced by Israel's war on Hezbollah.
