One particular castle you should add to your bucket list is Castell Rhaglan (Raglan Castle), the "grandest castle ever built by Welshmen". The Trump administration is rapidly escalating its pressure campaign against Venezuela, with America’s largest aircraft carrier, the Ford, about to take up a position within striking distance of the country, even as President Trump’s aides provide conflicting accounts of what, exactly, they are seeking to achieve. Mr. Trump held back-to-back days of meetings at the White House over the past two days, reviewing military options, including the use of Special Operations forces and direct action inside Venezuela. It is still not clear whether Mr. Trump has made a decision about what kind of action to authorize, if any. On Friday, he told reporters on Air Force One that “I sort of made up my mind.” “I can’t tell you what it is,” he said, “but we made a lot of progress with Venezuela in terms of stopping drugs from pouring in.”It is possible Mr. Trump is relying on the arrival of so much firepower to intimidate the government of Nicolás Maduro, who the United States and many of its allies say is not Venezuela’s legitimate president. Mr. Maduro has put his forces on high alert, leaving the two countries with their weapons cocked and ready for war.

Carlisle Crown Court heard that Kiera Brennan, 23, stabbed the man in his leg because he had punched her. “There are underlying issues which need to be dealt with.”At the time of the stabbing, Brennan was under the influence of substances and she herself had been assaulted, said the barrister. Judge Fanning imposed a five-month jail term but this runs alongside her present prison recall term, which does not expire until November of next year. The judge noted that the sentence she has now resumed serving was also a crime committed in a domestic context. Referring to the stabbing in Silloth, Judge Fanning added: "There's a risk of really serious harm from stabbing in to the leg.

The response was ready to go. After furious headlines in a British newspaper accused the BBC of institutional bias over a misleading edit of a speech by President Trump, top executives at the British public broadcaster knew they had to act quickly. It would acknowledge that Panorama, the flagship investigative program, had made a mistake by splicing together footage from Mr. Trump’s speech on Jan. 6, 2021, shortly before an attack on the Capitol. To their frustration, the executives, including the head of news, Deborah Turness, found themselves blocked by the BBC board, according to four BBC executives and another senior employee with knowledge of the events. News executives and board members were divided over whether to focus on the editing error, or to concede wider failings in the newsroom.

Just one in three Britons aged between eight and 18 enjoy reading in their free time — a 36 per cent decrease in reading since the survey began in 2005. When people stop reading, they stop being able to read. At stake here is nothing less than the fate of humanity, given the intimate connection between the written word and civilisation itself. At first, the written word seemed to do remarkably well in the internet age. If we gradually cease to base our social and political organisation on the written word, it follows that there will be three consequences.
