A non-profit organisation, Aweleka Social Club of Nigeria, has unveiled plans to organise an inaugural quiz and debate competition for secondary school students in Ogwashi-Uku, Aniocha South Local Government Area of Delta State. About 60 public and private secondary school students will represent their schools in the competition, co-sponsored by the Ifedinma Social Club of Nigeria. There would be other individual awards and recognitions for outstanding students in various competition categories. The President of Aweleka Social Club of Nigeria, Tony Mordi, explained that the competition was a step further in the Club’s strategic contributions to the educational system in the town. Aweleka Social Club of Nigeria, founded in 2008, and Ifedinma Social Club of Nigeria, established in 1986, have a larger number of their members drawn from Ogwashi-Uku, Delta State.

He noted that in the North-Eastern region, troops of Operation Hadin Kai theatre, have sustained aggressive operations to deny terrorists further freedom of action. The National Union of Electricity Employees (NUEE) has again threatened to shut down the national grid if the Federal Government failed to honour their demands soon. In a press conference in Kaduna on Thursday, the zonal organising secretary, North West of NUEE, Comrade Dukat Ayuba, noted that while the negotiation is still ongoing, but the shutting down of the national grid still hangs. The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Cross River Command, has warned politicians to shun all forms of hate speech, discrimination, racism and violence ahead of the 2023 general elections and campaigns.
