Hurricane Orlene sped toward Mexico’s southwestern coast on Monday morning, making landfall in the Pacific state of Sinaloa as a Category 1 storm, the National Hurricane Center (NHC) said. “The system should dissipate tonight or Tuesday,” the NHC said in an earlier report. The storm could dump torrential rains and cause flash flooding, along with possible landslides, according to the NHC. NIGERIAN Bottling Company (NBC) Ltd., has urged stakeholders in the manufacturing sector to embrace sustainable manufacturing across their operations as a tool to mitigate the impact of climate change in Nigeria. Speaking at the 3rd edition of the annual NBC Stakeholders Forum tagged, ‘Combating Climate Change Through Resource Efficiency’, held in Lagos, recently, the company’s Managing Director Mr. Matthieu Seguin, explained that the event was aimed at exploring opportunities to co-creating sustainable solutions to the challenges of climate change. He stated that the workshop was a follow-up to the series of investments the company had made by towards sustainable manufacturing to achieve its set target of Net Zero emissions by the year 2040. In his remarks, the Minister of Environment, Barrister Mohammed Abdullahi, commended the contributions of the Coca-Cola System towards environmental sustainability, particularly its ambitious targets to achieve net zero carbon emissionsacross its operations by the year 2040. “For Nigeria, the target for net zero is to be achieved by 2060 and for NBC to come up with these ambitious targets means a lot of investment and changes in its technology, approach, and resource utilisation,” he stated.

With the merger, NNPCL now officially controls all Oando retail outlets comprising fuel, and aviation among others, across the country. Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have arrested two brothers and 53 other suspected internet fraudsters in Ibadan. The success of the operation was the result of surveillance and intelligence gathered by the anti-graft personnel of the Ibadan Zonal command of the agency. The commission’s spokesman said on Saturday that the brothers, Ogunbanjo Omotayo Olakunle and Ogunbajo Abiodun Akorede, were arrested on September 30. Arrested alongside their league at the Awa-Ijebu area of Ibadan, Oyo, items recovered from them include eight exotic cars, laptops, phones and various electronic gadgets. EFCC said that 51 of the suspects were indicted by the forensic analyses done on their devices, and that they will be charged to court after investigation is concluded.
