An advertisement for a “fully furnished” bedroom the size of a “broom cupboard” has been removed after being heavily mocked by potential renters on social media. “Fall asleep peacefully at any time, this is a real home!” the advertisement, which included additional images of larger rooms, said. The listing for the single room up for rent was removed after heavy backlash. Someone else alleged it was illegal to rent a room that small, citing a minimum width of 1.8 metres under the Housing Improvement Regulations and Healthy Homes Guarantee Act. Yesterday’s announcement by Finance Minister Grant Robertson that the Government will axe half-price fares for public transport in an election year certainly seems odd. Axing a popular and effective policy On the surface, this announcement is madness – especially the decision to effectively double the price of public transport. The issue nicely dovetailed with Labour’s intention to transform public transport, helping combat the climate change crisis. The public transport initiative was extremely popular, with an overwhelming majority of the public wanting it extended, not axed. In fact, there’s a strong case for actually getting rid of fares entirely, making public transport free.

Humans who are determined to get on the plane first to nab that overhead bin real estate. In late 2019, London Gatwick Airport teamed up with EasyJet to trial new ways to board passengers. This included boarding those sitting in window seats first, starting at the back, followed by middle and aisle seat passengers.
