Joss and Spinner Smith enjoy a warm sunny, Sunday at Jackson Bay. PHOTO: SUPPLIEDThe enforced holiday is over for Joss and Ian (Spinner) Smith, of Jackson Bay, South Westland. The road to their cafe, The Craypot, was blocked by slips a week ago. However, on Saturday, road crews reopened the road — the only link between Jackson Bay, Haast and the main West Coast road — State Highway 6. The road opening means Jackson Bay, and The Craypot, are once again accessible to the public from the south end of the West Coast.

Zakopane is my preferred destination in Poland because of the number of ski resorts all offering something a little bit different. Zakopane in Poland because has a number of ski resorts all offering something a little bit different. And of course more of that hearty mountain food that just feels right in a town like this. Choose to base yourself closer to the larger more family-friendly Grandvalira ski resort or smaller but arguably more interesting resorts of Pal-Arinsal or Ordino. Aside from the impeccable skiing, Italy has (in my opinion) the best mountain food in all of Europe.

Trump’s choice as his new trade tsar suggests poker skills will also be a most useful attribute in the new era. Certainly when it comes to navigating his choice of Howard Lutnick, boss of bond trading firm Cantor Fitzgerald and co-chair of Trump’s transition team, to head up the powerful US Department of Commerce. He made plenty of comments during the lengthy US presidential campaign that underlined his stance as a proponent of tariffs. Put tariffs on China and make US$400 billion.”Elsewhere – such as with New Zealand – talk is of tariffs at 10-20%. Both political leaders come from the business world.

Later that day he went to Ceccarelli’s home and tried to kill him. Stuff reported Dallison told the board he’d “just given up” amid a “perfect storm”. Stuff reported the offender told the board he remembered pointing the Ruger at his former landlord and then the situation “became a bit of a blur”. Dallison told the board he had a “really good support network” outside prison and he now had “something to live for” and “something to offer the community as well”. Jane and I as well.”Snook said Dallison still had work to do before he could be considered for release.

Daughter and father Ella and Tony Gomez are encouraging people to donate blood before Christmas and have done so almost a combined 100 times throughout their lives. PHOTO: PETER MCINTOSHWhen Tony Gomez donated blood in England he got given a pint of Guinness. His daughter, Ella, also gives plasma every second week — together they have given to the New Zealand Blood Service 96 times. New Zealand Blood Service national marketing and communications manager Shane Paramore said summer was often proving to be the most challenging time to meet the demand for blood and blood products. "The festive season is about giving and, for someone in hospital, a blood or plasma donation will be the best gift they ever receive," Mr Paramore said.

But where does that leave your feelings around your ex’s mum being prejudiced and now being broken up with because of it? It’s clear what your ex is willing to tolerate, but what are you willing to tolerate? Emotional blackmail hinges on the person being blackmailed - your ex - acquiescing to the blackmailer’s - your ex’s mum - demands. Cultural expectations are of course at play here - maybe your ex’s mum is trying to save face in her community. In what ways are you actually causing harm to your ex’s family by being together?

“Just put it in the bloody dishwasher!”Yes, there’s a dishwasher in the kitchen. It’s also grossly self-entitled – the assumption that someone far less important, whose time is less precious, will pick up after you. This one, I liked: “Every time you don’t wash your dishes, god kills a kitten.” Apparently it’s pretty effective. The woman who posted that note in her office kitchen hands out a cartoon picture of a dead cat whenever she finds dirty dishes in the sink. One poor guy posted on Reddit about flying long-distance to New York, arriving late that night at the private room he’d booked on Airbnb.

A Dunedin ticketing company placed into liquidation has left creditors nearly $10 million out of pocket. The company was owned by former Dunedin businessman Matthew Davey, who was once the largest shareholder in the Highlanders. The final liquidation report, released this week, stated that Fortress’ total indebtedness to the Bank of New Zealand, a secured creditor, was $5,124,195.17. The liquidator had also received a preferential claim from the Inland Revenue Department for GST and PAYE arrears of $512,163.97. ‘‘Unfortunately, there were insufficient recoveries in the liquidation to enable a distribution to unsecured creditors,’’ the report said.
