Monrovia – Twelve (12) communities in Grand Cape Mount County have received assorted tools to jumpstart a cash-for-work program for 400 women, youth & persons with disabilities. The Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MOCI) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) turned over the tools recently in Grand Cape Mount County. A Livelihood Project led by the Ministry of Commerce & supported by UNDP Liberia and its Partners provides short-term employment for vulnerable groups. With its initial launch in Grand Cape Mount County, each beneficiary selected for the cash-for-work program will receive US$125.00 over a 25-day community service project in targeted communities in Bo Waterside, Tiene, Sinje, Medina, Fahndon, Thee, Tosar. The Livelihood Project targets seven counties-Grand Bassa, Grand Cape Mount, Grand Gedeh, Lofa, Montserrado, Nimba, and Sinoe.

MONROVIA – The Federation of Liberian Youth said it is troubling the alarming wave of insecurity currently existing in Liberia. The group through its President Amos Williams said the terrifying decline in national security is worrisome and needs to be addressed. Mr. Williams said the growing waves of recent ritualistic and series of secret killings have the propensity to undermine the current and uninterrupted peace which the general population has enjoyed for over fifteen years now. Mr. Williams at the same time encouraged all citizens to be supportive and attentive in providing any important information which can be used by national security apparatus in accordance with the growing waves of insecurities in the country. In a move to practically address the issue, FLY wants the Government to acknowledge the issue of insecurity in the Land and address it hands down.

During a debriefing session held at the ArcelorMittal Liberia Training Academy, AML’s Head of Government and Community Relations Marcus Wleh said AML welcomes the visit of the Nimba lawmakers and stressed that as a leader in Liberia’s private sector, the company operates in an open, transparent, and accountable manner. Wleh said, “ArcelorMittal Liberia is honored to be contributing immensely to Liberia’s economy and explained that with the progress being made on the company’s expansion project, there will be more opportunities in the areas of jobs, education, training and development, and revenue generation for the Government”. Two weeks ago, the Government of Liberia and ArcelorMittal signed a landmark amendment to the company’s Mineral Development Agreement (‘MDA’) which paves the way to triple its mining and logistics operations in Liberia to export 15 million tons of concentrate annually. ArcelorMittal Liberia is concerned about the worrying precedent being set by some of the lawmakers during their visit.

Sinoe County — Golden Veroleum Liberia (GVL) Inc continue its fight against the deadly Corona virus in its operational areas. In an effort to curb the spread of the COVID19 pandemic in Liberia, GVL has donated chlorides, powder soap, fuel, hand washing buckets, scratch cards, themo flashes and other COVID19 prevention materials to the Health Authorities in Sinoe and Grand Kru Counties respectively. The donations by GVL were presented separately to the two counties by GVL Nursing Coordinator, Annie T. Flomo and GVL Head Nurse in Grand Kru County, Zepoe Sieder on behalf of the company. They also noted that it is also part of the Company’s corporate and social responsibilities, working with the counties’ health teams to contain the spread of the pandemic in the Southeast area. District 17 defeated District 15 in post-match penalties after 90-minutes and extra time of play which ended goalless at the Antoinette Tubman Stadium on sunday September 26, 2021The match was the District 17 second Post-match penalties victory in the tournament after eliminating District 4 in the Semi-final. District 17 reached the final after edging District 4 in a nervy 8-7 penalty shoot out victory after regulation ended scoreless. When asked about the inclusion of Sam Johnson who is gaining fitness the national team coach said he is looking for players who can play back to back games without problem. “I want young, experienced and energetic players,” Butler maintained. According to Butler he is grateful to Johnoson for his time with the national team but wants players who can play week in week out.
