Police in Makueni County have arrested a Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) officer, a Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) officer and a businessman over alleged extortion. The suspects were identified as Samuel Ogando of KDF, Nelson Kasera of the DCI headquarters and Joseph Mulwa. In Nyeri County, police arrested a foreign national of Egyptian descent for hawking household items without valid documents. Elsewhere, in Uasin Gishu County, detectives arrested three men in Eldoret and recovered dozens of identification documents suspected to be stolen or forged. Police also recovered two Congolese driving licences, several South Sudanese driving licences, national ID cards, and a South Sudanese logbook.

The Court of Appeal has overturned a High Court decision that had invalidated the entire National Government Constituencies Development Fund (NGCDF) Act, 2015, finding that the lower court erred in striking down the law in its entirety. The case started in 2016 when petitioners challenged the NGCDF Act, 2015 at the High Court, claiming it violated devolution and public finance principles. The High Court declared the law unconstitutional in September 2024. The court observed that the Senate and the Council of Governors were parties to the case but did not raise complaints of interference with county functions. The appeal was allowed, and the NGCDF Act, 2015 upheld.

Detectives are investigating an incident where a professor lost Sh950,000 to suspected thieves in the Runda, Nairobi. The gang is believed to have been at the banking hall or had prior information on the cash transactions, police said.
