Antigua and Barbuda will host Monday's conference of the Small Island Developing States. Both will be high on the agenda this week as Small Island Developing States (SIDS), as they're formally known, meet Monday at their fourth UN Conference, in the Caribbean nation of Antigua and Barbuda. And climate change -- with its brutal droughts, powerful hurricanes and rising seas -- is threatening to erase some of them from the map altogether. "The harsh truth is for these countries, climate change is already a reality," Achim Steiner, head of the UN Development Program (UNDP), told AFP. This, according to Onyonka, will see both Gachagua and Ruto part ways ahead of the 2027 polls. "By next year if this war continues like this, Gachagua will be gone and William Ruto will be gone," Onyonka said during an interview with Citizen TV Monday. Amenipatia kazi mingi hata ingine inanishinda, ameniwezesha kuendelea na kazi yangu kwa hivyo serikali yetu iko imara tunaendelea na kazi," Gachagua said. EDUCATED YOUTHMy sojourn began at Asmara Palace Hotel, where I encountered a young Eritrean woman whose sharp intellect and linguistic prowess left an unforgettable impression on me. With an intriguing and illustrious cycling heritage, Eritrea has produced many cyclists who dominate on big international racing platforms. Cyclists from Eritrea have participated in and won significant victories from both regional and international cycling races. HOPEFUL PEOPLEThe sight of these young cyclists traversing the streets of Asmara stood in stark contrast to the narratives often propagated about Eritrea. Walking around the marketplaces of Asmara, Eritrea with visiting acquaintances was an enriching experience filled with vibrant colours, diverse aromas and an overwhelming palpable sense of community.
