New York: Healthcare payments software maker Waystar Holding Corp fell 3.7% in its trading debut after raising US$968mil in the year’s largest initial public offering (IPO) by a US-based company. Shares of Waystar, whose backers include EQT AB and Canada Pension Plan Investment Board (CPPIB), closed last Friday at US$20.70, giving the company a market value of about US$3.45bil. The company sold 45 million shares for US$21.50, the midpoint of the marketed range. Like Viking, the two other companies with bigger New York IPOs than Waystar this year are based outside the US. The firm’s investors, which include Bain Capital and Francisco Partners and their affiliates, aren’t selling shares in the IPO.

A survey by InfoTrak has ranked Interior CS Kithure Kindiki as the best-performing Cabinet Secretary. Kindiki scored a B of 60 per cent to emerge top CS in addressing issues affecting Kenyans. KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia’s Industrial Production Index (IPI) accelerated 6.1 per cent year-on-year in April 2024, underpinned by higher output growth in the manufacturing sector, according to the Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM). Chief statistician Datuk Seri Mohd Uzir Mahidin said the IPI growth accelerated further in April after registering 2.4 per cent in the preceding month, sustaining a positive momentum for four consecutive months. The manufacturing sector output rose by 4.9 per cent, while mining posted a vigorous growth of 10.0 per cent and the electricity sector remained steady at 7.6 per cent. "The increase in manufacturing output in April 2024 was supported by higher production in export-oriented industries by 2.6 per cent against 0.5 per cent recorded in March 2024. "During the period, all sectors posted an expansion, namely the mining index, manufacturing index and electricity index," he added.
