A secondary school teacher from Nthangathiri village in Embu County died by suicide in his house after allegedly being dumped by his girlfriend. The deceased, identified by police as Dennis Mwaniki Njeru, 32, alias Mukono, was found dead on his bed with a suicide note next to him. In the suicide note, the deceased said he made the painful decision after he was rejected by his lover. The note read: "I may look stupid but I have shared my stress with 17 people but none talked to me, let us meet in heaven. Mr Yego said the teacher was last seen alive on Sunday by his brother before he went missing.

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua on Friday returned to his former school, Kianyaga Boys High School in Kirinyaga County. Gachagua who was at the school together with other old boys promised to turn it into a model institution. The Deputy President pursued his secondary education between 1978 to 1983. A second judge has recused himself from the Nakuru War Memorial Hospital case as police continue to face criticism for ignoring court orders. Environment and Lands Court Judge Anthony Ombwayo has transferred the case to a court of similar jurisdiction in Nairobi, where it will now be heard.
