Ekeza Sacco founder David ‘Gakuyo’ Kariuki arrestedTelevangelist David Kariuki Ngare, popularly known as Gakuyo, has been arrested. The National Assembly on Wednesday approved the Affordable Housing Bill after the third reading, in a step that grants President William Ruto a first round victory as he seeks to push through his legacy action plan. Subsequently, the Affordable Housing Bill is now slated for consideration by the Senate for concurrence as certain components of the proposed amendments pertain to the jurisdiction of county governments. Kenya region with Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, President William Ruto urged the MPs to pass the Bill once it was brought before them. "I want to tell the Members of Parliament that they should pass the Housing Bill, the one the court asked us to pass. The MPs should pass the Housing Bill early in the morning and they should not ask questions," Ruto stated.

The Bill seeks to legalise collection of housing levy. After a fiery debate in the national assembly Wednesday evening, majority members of parliament voted to approve the affordable housing bill of 2023. Others include the sharing of the levy by various implementers of the program including County governments and the National Housing Corporation. These guidelines outlined in the Private Security (Use of Animals in Private Security Services) Regulations 2024 aim to ensure the protection of both animal and human life. According to the regulations, all private security service providers must maintain records of the animal's name, breed, date of birth, identity marks, and characteristics. Private security service providers must ensure that the animals undergo training and certification for security work. Private security service providers may also use the animals to detect and control crowds, patrol and pursue protection, and patrol demonstration parades.

CEO of Bytes Technology Neil Murphy has tendered his resignation and has notified the board that he has made a number of trades that weren't disclosed, the company said on Wednesday. JSE-listed Bytes, a former subsidiary of Altron, said in a statement the trades were also not disclosed to the market in compliance with regulatory requirements. "The board is working to clarify the details of these undisclosed trades," it said in a statement. According to the information provided to the board, Murphy's holding of Byte's shares remained unchanged from the position notified to the market on 28 November.
