The Kenya Defense Forces (KDF) announced that the diamond Jubilee event will commemorate KAF’s 60-year journey, highlighting its contributions to aviation development in Kenya, service to humanity, and historic milestones up to 2024. Established on June 1, 1964, the KAF traces its origins back to the East African Royal Air Force (EARAF) during World War II when Kenya served as a strategic base for Allied air operations. “As we commemorate this significant milestone, we honor the legacy of our predecessors who laid the foundation of what the Kenya Air Force is today,” she said. The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party National Elections Board on Saturday postponed planned grassroots elections in Nairobi. In a notice dated June 7, the party elections board chairman Anthony Mwaura noted the move was in line with an initial order issued on June 6. The postponement comes a day after Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja expressed confidence in winning Monday’s contest for UDA chairmanship. Meanwhile, on the other hand, Gakuya expressed his dissatisfaction with the preparedness of the Nairobi elections claiming unfair considerations. The taskforce reviewed current HIV testing methods and contextualised the WHO’s recommendation for our local landscape. Kenya’s move towards the three-test algorithm is more than a technical adjustment; it’s a signal of our commitment to fight HIV with every tool available.

The Kenya Kwanza government has repeatedly been blamed for increasing the yoke of taxes, and the introduction of levies that Kenyans cannot keep up with. Among the new proposed taxes in the Finance Bill is the highly debated motor vehicle tax, at the rate of 2.5 per cent of the value of the motor vehicle. Payable at the time of issuance of insurance cover for motor vehicles, this tax is between Sh5,000 and Sh100,000. “There is a risk it might push people to delay renewing their motor vehicles insurance due to the additional cost. When they were campaigning, they told Kenyan they would reduce the taxes but upon taking power, they have been increasing taxes in every way,” he says.
