The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions has ordered a probe into two viral videos on social media allegedly inciting Kenyans. The DPP directed the Directorate of Criminal Investigations(DCI) to work jointly with the National Cohesion and Integration Commission(NCIC) in the probe. In a statement by the DPP's directorate of Public Affairs and Public Communications, the state prosecutor said the utterances in the two videos could incite Kenyans to violence. "Pursuant to Article 157(4) of the Constitution, the DPP has directed the Directorate of Criminal Criminal Investigations (DCI) in with the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) to expeditiously carry out investigations and forward the resultant investigation inquiry files for perusal and advise." The ODPP did not provide further details about the identity of the person captured in the videos, saying the investigation should be expeditious.

A staggering 269,000 Kenyans have been revealed as victims of modern slavery between 2016 and 2023, according to a new survey by the Global Slavery Index. According to the Global Estimates of Modern Slavery report, a shocking 10 million people worldwide were forced into labour or marriage in 2016, pushing the estimated number of modern slavery victims to 50 million.
