An avalanche caused a Swiss passenger train to derail, leaving multiple people injured. Nearly 30 people were onboard the BLS train as it derailed near Goppenstein, in the canton of Valais, early this morning. Local police said five people were injured, one of whom had to be transported to a nearby hospital. The train had left Spiez at 6.12am, and was heading towards Brig when it derailed at around 7am today. A spokesperson for BLS told 20 Minuten this morning that the train was derailed by an avalanche.
