Interest rates look set to be cut on both sides of the Atlantic this week despite uncertainty created by the Budget and the US presidential election. Higher inflation means slower rate cuts. The Chancellor’s £162billion borrowing binge and associated spending splurge are seen as likely to add to inflation pressures, something that would slow the path of rate cuts. The fall in inflation enabled the Bank to cut interest rates from 5.25 per cent to 5 per cent in August though it held fire in September. But following the Budget, traders are no longer betting on a pre-Christmas cut in December – and are pencilling in the next one in February.

I dont mind the odd expletive ridden rant but these people don't realise how much their incessant nonsense spoils the game for others around them. If we score an incredible goal - rare, I know - but these type of people a millisecond later are moaning and groaning again. Anyhow a couple men behind this guy were fed up, hearing this match after match. Stewards had to be called in, as a few blows and the odd grapple later, they had to be ripped apart. Anyone else seen any Rangers fans take a physical dislike to each other, or players even ?

By Cillian Sherlock, PABillions of euros in tax receipts from Apple should be used to establish a state construction company, People Before Profit has said. The judgment restored a 2016 European Commission ruling that found Ireland gave undue tax benefits to Apple, contrary to EU state aid rules. On Monday, People Before Profit leader Richard Boyd Barrett said establishing a state construction company is the only way to deliver social and affordable homes at the required scale. The party argues that a state construction company would also be able to build homes cheaper than the private sector by cutting out land acquisition costs and the profit margin as well as reducing sales, marketing and finance costs. People Before Profit said close to €200,000 can be eliminated from the cost of building a three-bedroom home under such a mechanism.
