India plans to maintain multiple sources of energy supply and diversify them when needed as New Delhi looks to ensure consumers receive "adequate energy at the right price through reliable and secure supplies", Indian Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri said on Monday. "India's priority is to safeguard the interests of its consumers through an energy policy driven by adequate availability, fair pricing, and reliability of supply," Misri said. The Delhi Police on Monday took cognisance of a pre-print copy of the controversial book Four Stars of Destiny, authored by General Manoj Naravane, being circulated online. The Special Cell had registered a case and taken up investigation into the purported leak of the copy. It was also reported that necessary clearance for publication of the book was yet to be received from the relevant authorities. “Upon verification, it was found that a PDF copy of a typeset book with the same title and apparently prepared by Penguin Random House India Pvt. Taking it to X, Penguin Random House India clarified it holds exclusive rights to General Naravane’s “Four Stars of Destiny”, which has not yet been published.

The purchase of Venezuelan oil is the first by HPCL, with IOC, the country's top refiner, having previously bought Venezuelan oil in 2024, data compiled by Reuters shows. Vitol and Trafigura were granted US licences to sell Venezuelan oil after last month's US military operation to capture President Nicolas Maduro. Although a US-India statement on the trade framework did not mention Russian oil, President Donald Trump rescinded his 25% tariffs on Indian goods, imposed over Russian oil purchases, because, he said, New Delhi had "committed to stop directly or indirectly" importing Russian oil. New Delhi has not officially announced plans to halt Russian oil imports.
