Though the purpose of children's home is to provide temporary care for children until their families are found for claiming, she is concerned about the rate at which numerous children's homes are springing up in recent times. She noted that the Ministry will not give registration to new persons establishing children's homes to house street children. So those of us who are interested in establishing children's homes, we are saying that we will not give registration to any new homes that are springing up and the old ones too, we want to cut the number down.

Sly Mensah said, “A future NDC Government would not burn seized galamsey excavators — clearly, it is a lazy and reckless mindset. Indeed, it can only be valid when we say “two good heads are better than one,” a posted on his Facebook page read further. The government in its instruction to soldiers undertaking the exercise asked that all mining activities taking place on river bodies and 100 metres around be stopped with equipment used destroyed. The directive which is being carried out by the soldiers to the latter has seen opinions across the country divided with footage from the field showing seized excavators being set ablaze.

But it appears to be a bit disruptive and it becomes a problem because in other jurisdictions yes, the day is observed but the holiday is pushed to the weekend. So, you have a bit of a long weekend where you have these shops doing their promotions and all that,” he said.

According to the concern group, about 20 years ago the then government and the Bekwai community started a water project, which was then handed over to a private company named VICCO VENTURES to manage the water system. He believes the private company's services was good but not 100 percent so the government through Community Water and Sanitation ended the contract of Vicco Ventures and then handed over the water management to the Community Water and Sanitation to manage. He revealed that he as an assembly member has taken several steps to curb the situation since he's also affected.

Lamenting about this growing issue, the Department of Social Welfare Director at the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection, Dr. Comfort Asare, has sent a word of caution to beggars on the streets. Comfort Asare stated that these beggars see the practice as a lucrative business, forgetting the embarrassment they subject others who refuse to give them alms to. "We call on families to stop children from living on the streets...These children even get angry if you don't give them alms. You are disgracing Ghana," Dr Comfort Asare said.
