He said every Ghanaian knows that the Economic Management Team, which is set up by the president, is responsible for providing advice on the running of the economy. He added that the Economic Committee of Cabinet only presents programmes of the various ministry under it during Cabinet meetings. “But when it comes to the management of the economy, it is the Economic Management Team that has been responsible for it since and nobody should run away from it,” he said Twi. He questioned why the chairperson of the Economic Committee does not address Ghanaians on the economy if s/he is indeed superior to the head of the Economic Management Team, who is required to do so.

The Speaker of Parliament of Ghana, Alban Bagbin, has posited that the reason Ghana has not developed is because of the quality of the human resources leading the country’s development process. According to him, nothing, including all the constitutional reforms in the world, will bring transformation to Ghana if the human resources in the country remain in their current state. Bagbin, who made his remarks at the launch of the 30th Anniversary Celebration of Parliament on Wednesday, February 22, 2023, added that if the current crop of Ghanaians are taken to Singapore, the Asian country will become undeveloped. “We must focus on strengthening our democratic institutions, and we must focus on getting the right human resources to lead the country. “I believe in this state, if they send us to Singapore, Singapore will become undeveloped,” the Speaker of Parliament said.

Member of Parliament for North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has officially announced his decision to contest in the upcoming parliamentary primaries of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC). According to the MP, his decision to start the process towards a re-election to parliament is a result of immense calls made on him by his constituents. The NDC ahead of the 2024 presidential and parliamentary elections has slated its primaries for May 13, 2023, to elect its candidates. Mr Okudzeto Ablakwa is a third-term MP representing the people of North Tongu on the ticket of the NDC having been elected for the first time in 2012.
