A memorandum of agreement (MOA) signed between the Negotiation Team of UTAG and representatives of government on Wednesday, October 6 accepted $1,600 as research allowance for lecturers payable by 2024. The move averted an intended strike action by UTAG on Friday, October 8. But a petition by UTAG-UG sent to the National President, Professor Solomon Nunoo, overwhelmingly rejects the stated amount. Jointly signed by President Dr. Samuel Nkumbaan and Secretary Prof Ransford Gyampo, the petition contends that lecturers should be entitled to and shall only accept the Cedi equivalent of $2,084.

The residents’ association, an amorphous group of residents in and around the SUNDA manufacturing plant, work with the Assembly Member of the area to ensure public safety in compliance with local bylaws. The group believes that the company was better-behaved with the community and its residents under its previous management than what pertains now. The company has several industrial operations in different parts of Ghana including the Greater Accra and Western regions.

His comments come after two thousand LLB candidates who sat for the 2021/2021 academic year Ghana School of Law 2021 Entrance Exams failed in the exams. The General Legal Council (GLC), the body in charge of legal education in Ghana and also regulate the legal profession, has come under fire following this development. In the view of Prof Asare, the GLC lacks the competence to supervise anybody to conduct entrance examinations into the Ghana School of Law. There was nothing like entrance exams or interview."

He also alleges that some of these pastors engage in LGBTQ+ acts making it difficult for them to support the anti-gay bill. He shared these thoughts during an interview with Happy FM’s Don Prah on the ‘Epa Hoa Daben’ show. The people of the Christian community are hypocrites and they are confused. There are women pastors who are lesbians.”According to him, the Islamic community is more serious and organised than the Christian community. Meanwhile, fifteen renowned legal, academic and civil society professionals have filed a memorandum challenging the anti-gay legislation submitted to Parliament.

He said the late Marful-Sau was a loving father who was always there when he was needed most. Body of the late Justice Marful Sau has since been interred at the Military Cemetery in Accra. He was the 5th most senior judge of the 16-member Supreme Court. Prior to his elevation to the Supreme Court, Justice Marful -Sau was a Justice of the Court of Appeal for 12 years and High Court judge for 4 years.
