The United Nations has said that nearly 50 civilians have been killed in clashes and attacks in Ethiopia’s Amhara region over the past month. The death toll is partly the result of fighting between Fano militia and government forces over control of Lalibela – a UNESCO World Heritage site – as well as a drone attack that hit a bus station in Waber. Also, on November 4, six people were killed and 14 injured when government forces shelled residential areas in the Central Gondar Zone, while 21 others, including government and ruling party officials, were killed by Fano militia in separate attacks in the region on October 9 and 28. The Ethiopian government imposed a state of emergency in August after fighting broke out in Amhara, raising new concerns about the stability of Africa’s second most populous country.

Angelina and Brad share four children togetherZahara Jolie-Pitt, the daughter of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, might have hurt his father after her recent move during her Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority induction ceremony. The 18-year-old confidently introduced herself as Zahara Marley Jolie, deliberately omitting 'Pitt' from her last name. "I have seen children suffer far beyond what we experience in America — like our oldest daughter [Zahara]," discussed Brad getting candid about Zahara's Ethiopian origin. Brad’s deep affection for Zahara can hurt him a lot after her daughter introduces herself as Zahara Marley Jolie. The decision by Zahara to exclude 'Pitt' from her last name was interpreted by some as a deliberate omission, suggesting that Brad Pitt did not “deserve a mention” in this significant moment of her life.

The state-backed Ethiopian Human Rights Commission (EHRC) on Friday commended the decision of the United Nations World Food Program (WFP) and of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) to resume food aid in the East African country. The EHRC said in a press release that it welcomes the two aid organizations’ announcement that they are restarting food assistance in Ethiopia after a thorough review of their operations. The EHRC had been previously calling for the swift completion of ongoing efforts of coordination, resource mobilization and related administrative measures to allow for the immediate resumption of nutritionally adequate food assistance to the most vulnerable, including internally displaced persons (IDPs) and refugees, particularly children under the age of five years, according to the press release. Earlier this week, both the WFP and USAID announced they’re resuming food aid to Ethiopia five months after they suspended humanitarian aid in the country. The WFP estimates more than 20 million people in Ethiopia affected by ongoing drought and conflict urgently need humanitarian food assistance.

The security situation in Ethiopia has been particularly bleak in the over five years Prime Minister Abiy has been in power. If the Ethiopian genuinely has its citizens’ interest at heart, it’s duty-bound to accept responsibility for the security crisis in Ethiopia. Therefore, it shoulders ultimate responsibility for any security crisis occurring within the country.
