CAIRO - 9 November 2023: The Arab Parliament praised Egypt's position in support of the Palestinian cause, stressing that the Egyptian state, led by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, always aims to win Arab and humanitarian issuesRepresentative Alaa Abed, deputy of the Arab Parliament, said in exclusive statements to “Youm7”: “The stance of the Egyptian political leadership from the first moment is clear and honest, which is to support the Palestinian cause and work to revive the path of peace, the two-state solution, and the establishment of an independent State of Palestine across the borders of June 4, 1967, with its capital as East Jerusalem." The Deputy Speaker of the Arab Parliament explained that all Arabs consider Palestine as their cause, noting that President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi made and received communications showing the world’s keenness to implement a truce in the Gaza Strip. Abed stressed that President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s movements regarding the Palestinian issue confirm Egypt’s pivotal role, adding: “The Egyptian people stand behind President El-Sisi and back him in his decisions in supporting the Palestinian people.

CAIRO – 8 November 2023: The National Elections Authority (NEA) announced the electoral symbols of the 2024 presidential election candidates. In October, the National Election Authority announced the initial list of candidates who are set to run in the 2024 Presidential Elections two days after nominations closed. Candidates running in the upcoming elections include incumbent President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, who has been in post since 2014 and plans to run for a third term until 2030. Former MP Ahmed Tantawi, the former head of Al-Karama (Dignity) Party, has failed to secure the required endorsements from people. Meanwhile, Head of Egypt’s liberal Constitution Party (Al-Dostour) Gameela Ismail announced withdrawing from the presidential race, citing a decision by her party.

Minister of Finance Mohamed Maait has said that Egypt is keen to support South Sudan in achieving its development goals, especially in the economic and financial fields. Maait’s remarks came during a meeting with Bak Barnaba Chol, Minister of Finance and Planning of South Sudan, and the accompanying delegation on Wednesday. Bak Barnaba Chol thanked President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi for his support for peace, stability, and development efforts in South Sudan. Ramy Youssef, Assistant Minister of Finance for Tax Policies, said that the Egyptian government aspires to deepen cooperation with South Sudan in the field of preventing tax duplication and encouraging investment. Waleed Abdullah, Head of the General Budget Sector at the Finance Ministry, said that Egypt has succeeded in automating the preparation, implementation, and control of the general state budget using the latest global practices and advanced technologies.

CAIRO – 9 November 2023: The Egyptian Center for Strategic Studies (ECSS) issued Thursday an analytic paper titled "The Future of the Gaza Strip" bringing about insight pertinent to the aftermath of the Israeli aggression against the Palestinian enclave. The paper criticizes such perceptions for that they disregard the salience of a ceasefire, and the fact that the current Israeli military escalation in Gaza do not affect Hamas. Following Hamas’ takeover of the Gaza Strip, European Union and PA personnel withdrew. As for a sustainable solution on Gaza, the paper suggests that it has to be a Palestinian one that excludes regional and international interventions. The third is securing "institutional and financial support" to reconstruct the Strip that is still sustaining destruction by Israeli shelling.

Washington CNN —The White House maintained Tuesday that it doesn’t believe Israeli forces should reoccupy Gaza following Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu comments that the country will have the “overall security responsibility” in Gaza for an “indefinite period” after the war ends. “The president still believes that a reoccupation of Gaza by Israeli forces is not good. In an interview with CBS’ “60 Minutes” last month, Biden said it would be a “big mistake” for Israel to occupy Gaza. “There will have to be an Israeli security presence, but that doesn’t mean Israel is re-occupying Gaza, that doesn’t mean that Israel is there to govern the Gazans,” he continued. “One of the things that the president made clear to the prime minister is that we’re going to continue to stand with Israel.

Marrakech – Akinwumi Adesina, President of the African Development Bank (AfDB), called for investment in Special Agro-Industrial Processing Zones (SAPZs) at the Africa Investment Forum in Marrakech, Morocco, on Wednesday. “We must end the export of raw agricultural commodities,” Adesina said. “It’s time for Africa to be a player in global food and agricultural value chains. “I call on you, the investment community here today, to take advantage of unprecedented opportunities in Africa’s increasingly dynamic and profitable food and agricultural sector,” AfDB President said. “Invest in the Special Agro-Industrial Processing Zones (SAPZs) and be part of the new wealth of Africa.”

Cairo – November 8, 2023: Egypt will launch its inaugural electronic auction for gold and silver next week, according the Assay and Weights Administration (AWA) on Tuesday. The event will place 66 gold bars and 41 silver bars for auction next Tuesday, explained Head of the AWA, Ahmed Soliman, enabled by the Egyptian Mercantile Exchange (EME) trading platform. The auction is within the government’s overall goal to diversify the ways gold is available to the public, Farag explained. Gold has been on the government’s mind lately, with a new resolution against unregistered gold trading and launching the country’s inaugural gold investment fund. In May, Egypt launched its first-ever gold investment fund, managed by a joint venture between Evolve Holding and Azimut Egypt.

As part of the EU’s continued support to people in Gaza, the Commission will provide a further €25m in humanitarian aid. This quadruples EU humanitarian assistance to over €100m for Gaza this year. Announcing the funding today, President von der Leyen said, “We are further increasing humanitarian aid to Gaza by another €25m. By doing so, the European Union would spend a total of €100m in humanitarian aid for civilians in Gaza. The operations aim to facilitate the prepositioning of aid in support of fast delivery of assistance to people in need in Gaza.

Egyptian sources also revealed that intensive Egyptian contacts are underway to reach the Gaza truce after more than four weeks of the war, noting that there are positive indicators that a deal is around the corner. The non-stop Israeli war against the Gaza Strip since 7 October has left more than 10,000 people dead, mainly women and children, and has injured tens of thousands of individuals. The Israeli strikes come in retaliation for a surprise attack that Hamas launched on 7 October, killing hundreds of Israelis and captivating around 240 people.

The Ministry of Health in Gaza announced dozens of dead and wounded in a new Israeli massacre in Deir al-Balah, in the central Gaza Strip on Tuesday. It also announced earlier on Tuesday that the death toll from the Israeli aggression on Gaza had risen to 10,328 martyrs. During the past 24 hours, more than 300 people and hundreds were wounded as a result of intense Israeli raids launched by the occupation army on many areas in Gaza. The Ministry of Health refuted the Israeli claims regarding the existence of safe corridors. These corridors are nothing but “corridors of death,” it said.
