Egypt - The outstanding balances of local treasury bills (T-bills) and bonds (T-bonds) reached approximately EGP 4.961trn by the end of September 2023, according to the latest report published on the Egyptian Ministry of Finance website. This includes EGP 2.605trn in treasury bills and EGP 2.355trn in bonds. The report shows that the outstanding balances of T-bills included around EGP 1.189trn for 364-day bills, approximately EGP 219.611bn for 273-day bills, about EGP 564.504bn for 182-day bills, and approximately EGP 632.209bn for 91-day bills. Outstanding balances of Egypt’s external bondsIn a related context, the Ministry of Finance disclosed the outstanding balances of Egypt’s external bonds until the end of September 2023. These balances also include bonds worth $1.5bn issued on 28 February 2023, due on 28 February 2026, with a yield of 10.875%.

The Al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, claimed that they had completely or partially destroyed 20 Israeli military vehicles in the span of 48 hours. Abu Ubaida said that the Israeli forces would face the resistance of the mujahideen in every step they took. He revealed that Qatari mediation efforts had led to an agreement to release Israeli prisoners in exchange for 200 Palestinian children and 75 women. Egypt stated on Monday through its Ministry of Foreign Affairs, denouncing the Israeli occupation forces’ attack on the office of the Qatari committee for the reconstruction of Gaza. The statement said that this was a clear violation of international law, which requires the protection of civilians and the avoidance of targeting civilian facilities. Egypt said that the attack on a vital office of a fraternal Arab country that plays a significant role in supporting the reconstruction efforts in Gaza was inhumane and unjustifiable by any false pretext or rationale. The statement also urged the international parties to take serious and clear positions and to fulfill their responsibilities to stop these Israeli aggressions in Gaza. It also called for naming the violations without ambiguity and holding the perpetrators accountable.

CAIRO - 12 November 2023: According to a statement released by the Ministry of Finance, the ministry, Deutsche Bank, Bank ABC, and the Arab Investment and Export Credit Guarantee Corporation (Daman) to secure $500 million in new development financing. This joint effort aims to diversify funding sources through innovative, diverse, and sustainable tools while addressing environmental and governance requirements. The Ministry of Finance commends the interest shown by international and regional banks and expresses gratitude for the involvement of Daman, Deutsche Bank, and Bank ABC, as their participation aids in diversifying sources of financing. The minister further revealed that Egypt's goals for 2023 include developing and establishing 53 hospitals with a budget of LE 27.909 billion. Additionally, Egypt plans to construct three hospitals in 2024 for LE 14.1 billion and an additional 14 hospitals in 2025, requiring investments of LE 19.56 billion.

The Palestinian resistance has inflicted heavy losses on the Israeli occupation army, destroying more than 160 military vehicles, including tanks, in the past 48 hours, according to Abu Ubaida, the spokesperson of the Al-Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of Hamas. Abu Ubaida said in a recorded speech on Saturday that the resistance fighters are confronting the Israeli tanks with fierce resistance and forcing them to retreat or change their course of invasion. Meanwhile, the Al-Quds Brigades, the military wing of the Islamic Jihad Movement, said that they targeted Israeli military gatherings near the Zaytoun neighbourhood in Gaza with mortar shells and rockets. Also on Saturday, the Israeli occupation army announced the death of five of its soldiers in clashes in Gaza, bringing the total number of its casualties to 43 since the start of the ground operation on October 27. The demonstrators, escorted by the British police, waved Palestinian flags and banners reading “Free Palestine” and “Stop the bombing of Gaza.”
