House of Representatives member Hanaa Anis Rizkallah filed an Oral Question with the house for Civil Aviation Minister, regarding the causes behind EgyptAir dropping out from the list of the top 10 Arab and African airliners based on the Skytrax classification. “What EgyptAir witnessed, in terms of challenges, are almost similar to Arab and African airlines, and we find that our national company came out of the list of the 100 best companies in the world according to the classification of Skytrax, which included 11 Arab companies,” she explained. The Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) has released data showing that Egypt’s manufacturing and extractive industries index decreased by 8.44% in April 2023. The index, which excludes crude oil and petroleum products, reached 99.33 in April 2023, compared to 108.49 in March 2023. The decrease was driven by a decline in the manufacture of electrical equipment, which fell by 25.73%, and the manufacture of basic pharmaceutical products and pharmaceutical preparations, which fell by 20.66%. CAPMAS attributed the decrease in the manufacturing and extractive industries index to a number of factors, including the lack of raw materials, the availability of stocks of products, and the impact of the war in Ukraine. Minister of Supply and Internal Trade Ali al-Moselhy assured Monday that Egypt is completely safe in terms of food and supply commodities during the coming period. Moselhy said that Egypt’s strategic reserves of wheat are sufficient for six months alongside its reserves of vegetable oils, lasting up to four months.
