The Central Bank of Egypt (CBE), which undertakes this task on behalf of the government, will offer T-bills and bonds worth EGP 341bn in July, more issuances worth EGP 425.75bn in August, and others worth EGP 340bn in September. According to the plan, the ministry is scheduled to offer T-bills worth EGP 295.5bn for a period of 91 days, EGP 243.5bn for a period of 182 days, EGP 224.5bn issuances for a period of 273 days, and EGP 310.5bn offer for 364 days. The banks operating in the Egyptian market are the largest sectors investing in bonds and treasury bills that the government offers periodically to cover the state budget deficit. These bonds and bills are offered through 15 banks that participate in“primary dealers” system in the“primary market”. The Ministry of Finance recently revealed that the volume of outstanding balances of local treasury bills and bonds amounted to about EGP 4.3trn in April 2023.

The first edition of Agro Egypt Expo, under the strategic sponsorship of the Chemicals and Fertilizers Export Council (CEC), kicked off Saturday 8 July and will continue until 11 July. Chairperson of CEC Khaled Abu Al-Makarem highlighted the Council’s keenness to provide a platform for the sector’s companies to showcase their products through their participation in the Agro Egypt Expo. Abu Al-Makarem added that the council contributes to financing and supporting small and micro companies that are members of the CEC to participate in specialised international exhibitions. He noted that the export council pays efforts in cooperation with Egyptian Commercial Service offices abroad, embassies abroad, and the Council’s counterparts to bring in delegations of buyers on the sidelines of the exhibition and hold bilateral meetings between investors from different countries of the world and their Egyptian counterparts. The CEC’S CEO Mohamed Mageed stated that Egypt’s exports of fertilizers to various countries of the world achieved a growth rate of approximately 42% in 2022, reaching a $3.38bn, compared to about $2.4bn in 2021.

The Korean Cultural Center in Egypt organized the 2023 edition of the Korean language Speech and Writing Contest for students of the King Sejong Institute. Oh Sungho, Director of the Korean Cultural Center, expressed his happiness at organizing the Contest, noting that the Korean language learners have been generally growing in Egypt as many young people enthusiastically seeks to learn and commanding it, while exploring Korean Culture. ‘The Center plans to expand the Korean language education through accepting more applicants in the seasonal courses while opening new branch of King Sejong Institute in another city’ he added. After the evaluation of the jury composed of experts in teaching the Korean language, the results of the Contest were announced. The King Sejong Institute, a government-funded Korean language centre for foreigners, was established in 2007, with only 13 centres in three countries.

EgyptAir started its air bridge for the return of the pilgrims from Saudi Arabia after performing the rituals of Hajj [the pilgrimage], on July 1. The Hajj ritual ends with the celebration of Eid Al-Adha (Feast of Sacrifices), which is the most significant feast for Muslims worldwide. The Adha honors the day when Prophet Ibrahim -peace be upon him- was ordered to sacrifice his son, Ismael, and because of his obedience, God substituted Ismael with a ram, and this day has become a feast for Muslims since that day.

Egypt - The dispute between the minority shareholder and management in Pepsi Bugshan Investment has finally come to an end. PepsiCo Light B.V. International owns 80% of Pepsi Bugshan and a Saudi investor represented in Bugshan Saudi Arabia owns the remaining 20%. The general assembly was held last June to vote on dismissing the board of directors of Pepsi Bugshan Investment, one of the PepsiCo Egypt companies, provided that the right to vote is limited to the minority shareholder, Bugshan. The sources noted that the minority shareholder who has the right to vote agreed to continue the current board of directors to end the two-year dispute with the management. PepsiCo Egypt is currently negotiating with the parent company in America to pump investments into the Egyptian market, which it hopes would exceed $500m over the next four years, according to Mohamed Shelbaya, managing director of PepsiCo Egypt.

President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi on Tuesday signed a law to sanction the final account of the Egyptian Agricultural Authority’s budget for fiscal year 2021-2022 at an amount of around LE 214.767 million. Sisi also inked laws to endorse the FY 2021-22 final account of the General Authority For Reconstruction Projects & Agricultural Development at around LE 29.16 billion. Another law was signed as well ratifying the final account of the Egyptian Survey Authority (ESA) at about LE 944.391 million. Meanwhile, the final account of the Industrial Development Authority was okayed at around LE 5.935 billion, the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation at LE 940.744 billion, the Industrial and Mining Projects Authority (IMPA) at around LE 7.639 billion, and the General Organization for Government Printing Offices at around LE 708.290 million. Two other laws were also signed approving the final account of the Egyptian Electric Utility & Consumer Protection Regulatory Agency at about LE 157 million, and the final account of the Gas Regulatory Authority at about LE 53.311 million.

CAIRO - 6 July 2023: The Egyptian Ministry of Health and Population called on all citizens to go to the headquarters that provide services for the newly-launched 100 Days of healthy lives Campaign. Dr. Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, the official spokesman for the Ministry of Health and Population, explained that the total services provided by the "100 Days of Healthy lives" campaign since its launch on June 25 until now amounted to 3,694,040 services. The spokesperson added that the total services provided by the campaign Tuesday amounted to 399,152 services, including 10,000,683 services within the President's initiative to support women's health. Abdul Ghaffar said that the “100 Days of Healthy lives” campaign provided the services of the President’s initiative to examine cancerous tumors (prostate - colon - lung - cervix) by filling out 11,802 questionnaires, adding that the total number of visitors to the medical convoys yesterday amounted to 9,564 citizens. Abdul Ghaffar added that the “100 Days of Healthy lives” campaign provided awareness and health education services to 33,540 citizens through community communication teams deployed in public areas, clubs and malls in the governorates, to raise awareness and direct citizens to receive the services of public health initiatives provided by the campaign.
