Egypt - The dispute between the minority shareholder and management in Pepsi Bugshan Investment has finally come to an end. PepsiCo Light B.V. International owns 80% of Pepsi Bugshan and a Saudi investor represented in Bugshan Saudi Arabia owns the remaining 20%. The general assembly was held last June to vote on dismissing the board of directors of Pepsi Bugshan Investment, one of the PepsiCo Egypt companies, provided that the right to vote is limited to the minority shareholder, Bugshan. The sources noted that the minority shareholder who has the right to vote agreed to continue the current board of directors to end the two-year dispute with the management. President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi on Tuesday signed a law to sanction the final account of the Egyptian Agricultural Authority’s budget for fiscal year 2021-2022 at an amount of around LE 214.767 million. Sisi also inked laws to endorse the FY 2021-22 final account of the General Authority For Reconstruction Projects & Agricultural Development at around LE 29.16 billion. Another law was signed as well ratifying the final account of the Egyptian Survey Authority (ESA) at about LE 944.391 million. Meanwhile, the final account of the Industrial Development Authority was okayed at around LE 5.935 billion, the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation at LE 940.744 billion, the Industrial and Mining Projects Authority (IMPA) at around LE 7.639 billion, and the General Organization for Government Printing Offices at around LE 708.290 million. Two other laws were also signed approving the final account of the Egyptian Electric Utility & Consumer Protection Regulatory Agency at about LE 157 million, and the final account of the Gas Regulatory Authority at about LE 53.311 million.

CAIRO - 5 July 2023: Foreign investors will be able to register as importers in Egypt, according to a draft law approved by the cabinet Thursday. As per decisions made during a meeting of the Supreme Investment Council on May 16, 2023 to attract foreign investors, the draft law stipulates that the importer register is permitted for joint-stock companies, partnerships limited by shares, limited liability companies, or partnerships in which the shares or stakes of the partners are not owned by Egyptians. However, if Egyptians own just below 51%, the company may register. The total registration term should not exceed 10 years from the date of enforcement the new law. Registration may be extended for another term of 10 years if recommended to the cabinet by the minister of trade.

Egypt’s Healthcare Authority announced that more than 46,000 newborns underwent audiological examination in the four comprehensive health insurance governorates: Port Said, Luxor, Ismailia, and South Sinai. This came within the president of the republic’s initiative for early detection of hearing impairment in newborns.
