Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed has said that his country is ready to resume negotiations with Egypt and Sudan on the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD). Egypt and Sudan have been concerned about the GERD since its construction began in 2011. Ethiopia has completed three stages of filling the mega Nile River dam in 2020, 2021, and 2022. Assistant Foreign Minister for Multilateral Affairs and International Security Ehab Badawi held high-level talks here on Wednesday with Hungary’s Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó and his accompanying delegation. Egypt - The dispute between the minority shareholder and management in Pepsi Bugshan Investment has finally come to an end. PepsiCo Light B.V. International owns 80% of Pepsi Bugshan and a Saudi investor represented in Bugshan Saudi Arabia owns the remaining 20%. The general assembly was held last June to vote on dismissing the board of directors of Pepsi Bugshan Investment, one of the PepsiCo Egypt companies, provided that the right to vote is limited to the minority shareholder, Bugshan. The sources noted that the minority shareholder who has the right to vote agreed to continue the current board of directors to end the two-year dispute with the management. PepsiCo Egypt is currently negotiating with the parent company in America to pump investments into the Egyptian market, which it hopes would exceed $500m over the next four years, according to Mohamed Shelbaya, managing director of PepsiCo Egypt.

President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi on Tuesday signed a law to sanction the final account of the Egyptian Agricultural Authority’s budget for fiscal year 2021-2022 at an amount of around LE 214.767 million. Sisi also inked laws to endorse the FY 2021-22 final account of the General Authority For Reconstruction Projects & Agricultural Development at around LE 29.16 billion. Another law was signed as well ratifying the final account of the Egyptian Survey Authority (ESA) at about LE 944.391 million. Meanwhile, the final account of the Industrial Development Authority was okayed at around LE 5.935 billion, the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation at LE 940.744 billion, the Industrial and Mining Projects Authority (IMPA) at around LE 7.639 billion, and the General Organization for Government Printing Offices at around LE 708.290 million. Two other laws were also signed approving the final account of the Egyptian Electric Utility & Consumer Protection Regulatory Agency at about LE 157 million, and the final account of the Gas Regulatory Authority at about LE 53.311 million.

CAIRO - 6 July 2023: The Egyptian Ministry of Health and Population called on all citizens to go to the headquarters that provide services for the newly-launched 100 Days of healthy lives Campaign. Dr. Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, the official spokesman for the Ministry of Health and Population, explained that the total services provided by the "100 Days of Healthy lives" campaign since its launch on June 25 until now amounted to 3,694,040 services. The spokesperson added that the total services provided by the campaign Tuesday amounted to 399,152 services, including 10,000,683 services within the President's initiative to support women's health. Abdul Ghaffar said that the “100 Days of Healthy lives” campaign provided the services of the President’s initiative to examine cancerous tumors (prostate - colon - lung - cervix) by filling out 11,802 questionnaires, adding that the total number of visitors to the medical convoys yesterday amounted to 9,564 citizens. Abdul Ghaffar added that the “100 Days of Healthy lives” campaign provided awareness and health education services to 33,540 citizens through community communication teams deployed in public areas, clubs and malls in the governorates, to raise awareness and direct citizens to receive the services of public health initiatives provided by the campaign.

The Ministry of Finance has announced that the first batch of the sixth phase of the lump-sum export subsidy payment initiative will start next week. Sabbour explained that the exchange procedures are carried out through four banks, namely the NBE, and Banque Misr, Banque Du Caire, and the Egyptian Export Development Bank. She added that more than EGP 42bn have been disbursed to exporting companies, since the start of initiatives, to pay the late dues to exporters at the Export Development Fund in October 2019 until now. An extra-ordinary meeting of the Arab League (AL) Council kicked off on Tuesday 04-July-2023, in Cairo to discuss the situation in the Palestinian city of Jenin in light of the ongoing Israeli aggression there. CAIRO - 5 July 2023: Foreign investors will be able to register as importers in Egypt, according to a draft law approved by the cabinet Thursday. As per decisions made during a meeting of the Supreme Investment Council on May 16, 2023 to attract foreign investors, the draft law stipulates that the importer register is permitted for joint-stock companies, partnerships limited by shares, limited liability companies, or partnerships in which the shares or stakes of the partners are not owned by Egyptians. However, if Egyptians own just below 51%, the company may register. The total registration term should not exceed 10 years from the date of enforcement the new law. Registration may be extended for another term of 10 years if recommended to the cabinet by the minister of trade.

Egypt’s Healthcare Authority announced that more than 46,000 newborns underwent audiological examination in the four comprehensive health insurance governorates: Port Said, Luxor, Ismailia, and South Sinai. This came within the president of the republic’s initiative for early detection of hearing impairment in newborns. After conducting the initial examination of children, if any symptoms are proven in the newborn, he is transferred to the audiology unit of the authority in the governorates of the comprehensive health insurance, each in his governorate, with the aim of following up and evaluating the child’s condition more accurately, and then starting medical treatment. In a statement on Tuesday, the authority pointed out that the nursing teams in the health facilities affiliated with the authority were trained to work and examine newborns during their first month by using the sound emission device and re-examination again after another week in the event that the device showed problems or hearing impairment in the newborn.
