TikTok Canada has insisted the fears are unfounded and the company works to protect user data and algorithms. In the United Kingdom, the government closed its Parliamentary TikTok account over the summer due to security concerns. Meanwhile, in recent weeks more states banned the social media app TikTok from government-issued mobile and computer devices over security concerns. TikTok Canada spokesperson Danielle Morgan sent a statement from the company saying it has the security of its users in the country protected. Chong said the first thing Ottawa needs to do is find out more from TikTok itself about its operations in Canada.

Marco Chumacero won’t be taking all of his vacation days in 2022. “Working from home means I no longer have long commute times and the days don’t feel as long,” he said. The flu, COVID-19, and respiratory illnesses such as RSV, all contribute to employees hoarding their vacation days to look after children or seniors in their family. Many workers don’t have enough paid sick days or personal leave options, so are saving up vacation days to use instead, she said. “I think this speaks to the fact there isn’t enough support for caregivers.”Hasham said employers play a pivotal role in employees taking their full vacation days.

However, the name which I had in mind was that of Lesia Zubrack. Born in Saskatoon, Ms. Zubrack moved to Prince Albert with her family in 1933 at the age of two years. The Prince Albert Daily Herald printed stories with respect to these latter two competitions, headlining the first “Best Female Singer: Lesia Zubrack Wins Award” and the second “Lesia Wins Another First”. Somehow, the bit of poetry written about her in the 1945/46 copy of the PACI yearbook, Cynosure, strikes me as a fitting epitaph for Lesia Zubrack. First of all, we will be opening over the school holidays and providing some programming for the young and young at heart.

By determining an ideal impingement angle — the angle between a liquid stream and a solid surface — the research team was able to design a receptacle that reduces the backspray of urine to almost nothing. Pan, together with professors and students from Waterloo and Weber State University in Utah, has been working on the project for nearly five years. He said conference-goers were amazed by the fun aspect of the research, but few identified the cutting-edge physics behind it. Initially the team had to consider a fundamental question on the physics of droplets: At what impinging angle would splash not occur? “By doing this, they reduce the impinging angle of the jets (less splash),” Pan said.

The public doesn’t usually warm to the notion of labour militancy — until reminded that, without it, weekends would be a lot shorter, or maybe not exist at all. The truth is labour militancy has benefited all of us. It was instrumental in attaining the weekend, the eight-hour workday, the end of child labour, public pensions and public health care, and countless other gains that have dramatically improved the lives of working people and the broader public. With or without public support, labour militancy may soon be pressing up against the brick wall of a recession, which is being deliberately induced by the Bank of Canada to crush inflation. And labour is pushing not just for higher wages, but for a shakeup of players at the power table.
