I thought it was unfair and asked for an internal dispute resolution (“IDR”) meeting. Sorry B.G., but your board may need to remind the president that the board runs things, not the president. AdvertisementQ: I spoke for my time in open forum inquiring about the status of some incomplete projects. Yelling in a board meeting should never be acceptable behavior, no matter how strongly someone might disagree. Meeting conduct rules would help your HOA, and such conduct rules should apply to all attendees — including the president.

Liberals begin consultations on foreign influence registry, but with no timelineOTTAWA — The Liberal government is beginning consultations to create a foreign influence registry, Public Safety Minister Marco Mendicino announced Friday, but he refused to say when the measure could be up and running. "There are few greater challenges that we face than foreign interference," Mendicino said at a news conference on Parliament Hill. The registry would require people who act on behalf of a foreign state to advance its goals to disclose their ties to the government employing them. The consultations will begin Friday and run until May 9, including through a virtual portal on the Department of Public Safety's website. Mendicino signalled late last year that the Liberal government wanted to hear from experts and the broader public, including members of affected communities, about creating a registry.

The Winnipeg-based Centre for Child Protection runs Cybertip, Canada’s tip line for reporting online child sexual abuse. It has reported receiving “an unprecedented volume of reports from youth, and sometimes their concerned parents, about falling prey to aggressive sextortion tactics,” amounting to about 300 online sextortion cases a month. Cybertip is now warning about sextortion recovery scams, wherefraudsters target the same people who were victims of the extortion scam, claiming they will be able to recover intimate images for a fee. Attorney General Niki Sharma tabled legislation Monday that would provide additional protections for people whose intimate images are shared without permission. Steve Brighton, who works for the Southern Alberta Internet Child Exploitation Unit, said police are also concerned about the rise of sextortion recovery scams.

Climate change slowing down, not speeding up, movement of large Arctic rivers: studyYELLOWKNIFE — Scientists have long believed that rapid warming in the Arctic would cause river channels to move faster, but a new study has found the opposite may be true for large, winding rivers in the region. "If the temperature goes up and the frozen ground is progressively melting, the reverse would have found less resistance to erosion." The study focuses on 10 sinuous rivers wider than 100 metres in permafrost terrain, including the Mackenzie, Porcupine, and Yukon rivers. This report by The Canadian Press was first published March 10, 2023. This story was produced with the financial assistance of the Meta and Canadian Press News Fellowship.
