A Canadian family is in mourning after the remains of a couple and their dog have been found following a deadly attack by a grizzly bear. The victims’ family received a distressing SOS message reading ‘Bear Attack Bad’ just as the incident was occuring. The couple alongside their Border Collie had been mauled by a female bear, which also was found shot dead at the scene. And they were highly, highly experienced in being out back, whether it be serious treks or canoeing, whitewater canoeing in the North country,” he said. Colin stated that the couple simply had been in the wrong place at the wrong time.

An estimated 39 acres of farmland is being lost to development each day on the Island. She married Donald W. Taylor in 1954, and together they raised four children and many dogs before his death inl995. Their children grew up in Buffalo, where Jane was an avid volunteer, giving her time to many causes including the hospital gift shop and her children's schools. Jane was an avid reader, interested in many diverse topics, but especially fascinated with Judaism. Jane was a staunch fan of CBC Radio, even getting a shortwave radio to keep it playing in the house the entire time they lived in Buffalo. She is also survived by nieces and nephews here and in the UK, and by her beloved and devoted Havanese, Lily.

An Alaska-based project has found salmon spawning in the Arctic Ocean watershed, suggesting that climate change is pushing certain salmon species into new areas. “In the Arctic, the water is getting warm enough and they’re starting to blink on.”To do the research, scientists studied 100 chum salmon on two rivers on Alaska’s North Slope, the Arctic part of the state. The Anaktuvuk and Itkillik rivers flow into the Colville River, which empties into the Arctic Ocean. The researchers noticed the conditions were similar to where salmon reproduce in the their usual habitats. The scientists are also analysing salmon bone and tissue to see if they’ve been in Arctic waters their whole lives.
