It was when he got a job at the Ontario Science Centre as a “Host” that Anthony Morgan really fell in love with science (Photograph courtesy of CBC)When Anthony Morgan was in high school, he didn’t particularly like science. What do you think is missing from the way that we’re thinking and talking about science? Tell me about how you’re going to approach your new role as co-host of The Nature of Things.

It’s time to look beyond the status quo and consider nature-based solutions to protect the places we love. The Canso Causeway connecting Cape Breton Island to mainland Nova Scotia and the Vancouver seawall are just two examples. Nature-based solutions prevent shoreline pollution, support biodiversity, can increase property value and contribute to overall human well-being. As such, raising awareness about different nature-based options and being transparent about costs and benefits can help build confidence in nature-based solutions. Successful nature-based solutions also require place-based collaboration and knowledge sharing between impacted peoples, engineers, scientists and decision-makers that consider social and ecological interests.

“Cameron Ortis was not and is not an enemy to the RCMP and the citizens of Canada,” Ortis’s lead counsel Jon Doody told the 12 jurors at the start of his closing statement Thursday. It is widely considered to be a test of whether Canada has the ability to prosecute espionage cases. It also shows he sent or attempted to send the three other men documents containing RCMP, FINTRAC and Five Eyes Intelligence alliance information on their operations. Most RCMP witnesses testified there was no world in which Ortis’ actions were permissible. There are many answers that Cam simply was not allowed to give,” Doody told the jury.

(Ty Wright/Bloomberg - image credit)Canada's housing market has gone into winter hibernation early this year, the group that represents realtors said Wednesday, with new data for October showing fewer sales, fewer new listings, and selling prices mostly flat. There were fewer homes changing hands and even fewer new listings being put up for sale in the first place. But even by that seasonal trend, October was a chillier than usual month for the housing market. Calgary continues to have a hot housing market, as the region's comparatively strong economy is drawing in people from across the country, boosting demand for housing. Atlantic Canada is also seeing record inflows of people because of the comparative affordability, and that's pushing up prices for housing.

A Toronto couple accused of being masterminds behind large drug shipments have been arrested after a transport truck carrying methamphetamine into Canada and a moving van carrying cocaine in Toronto were stopped by officials. The find prompted an investigation by CBSA officers in Windsor to trace the origins of the meth and find who was responsible for smuggling it to Canada, authorities say. Officers stopped the van, arrested Watson, and found 120 kilograms of cocaine in the van, police said. “Search warrants were executed by RCMP with assistance from the CBSA at the residence of Watson and Kiguru in Toronto. Kiguru was charged with importation of meth, conspiracy to import drugs, money laundering, and proceeds of crime offences.

Among the remarkable things about Sort Of is the lead character’s trans identity is almost coincidental, at least at the beginning. “We knew our character was going to be trans,” says Baig of the show’s development process with co-creator Fab Filippo. One of the things that thrilled me about the first season was the relationship between Sabi and their mother. I think Sort Of will be CBC’s next Schitt’s Creek, a slowly building show that will eventually garner a dedicated international audience through streaming.

Unfortunately, the “anti-Zionist” sentiment, push-back against the idea of a Jewish homeland in Israel, he expressed isn’t exactly uncommon. Instead, the massacre has, perplexingly, set off a wave of antisemitism the world over, with Canada being no exception. Here in Canada, the city of Montreal, home to a quarter of the country’s Jewish population, has been an epicentre of anti-Jewish hatred. Two Montreal-area Jewish schools were shot at overnight on Nov. 8 and a third shooting incident was reported on Sunday. While virtually every identifiable group faces some level of discrimination, antisemitism is a uniquely global and insidious form of hatred.

Without this funding, ACP will end and enrolled households will see the cost of internet service rise. “The impact of ACP exhaustion would be especially severe in communities of color where internet access and adoption still lag. Access to affordable and reliable internet is essential for full participation in today’s 21st century economy,” continued the Members.
