President Volodymyr Zelensky marked the four-year anniversary of the Ukraine war by accusing Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin of trying to take over Ukraine, saying he had failed to achieve this and other war goals. We have preserved Ukraine, and we will do everything to achieve peace -- and to ensure there is justice,” Zelensky said in his address. Despite heavy losses, Russian troops have in recent months advanced slowly on the front line, particularly in the eastern Donbas region, which Moscow wants to annex. The grinding four-year war has devastated Ukraine, which even before the fighting was one of the poorest countries in Europe. Russia cast its decision to send troops into Ukraine as a defensive move to halt Ukraine’s ambition to join Nato.

WASHINGTON, United States, Feb 24, 2026 (BSS/AFP) - US President Donald Trump threatened nations Monday with punishing tariff hikes if they "play games" after his trade policy setback before the Supreme Court -- hours before newduties were set to kick in. The high court struck down Trump's global tariffs last Friday, ruling that he had exceeded his authority in tapping emergency economic powers to impose them. This dealt a sharp blow to Trump's economic agenda, of which tariffs -- and his ability to impose them rapidly -- have been a key feature. In a notice posted late Sunday, US Customs and Border Protection said it would stop collecting tariffs struck down by the court starting Tuesday. Trump insisted in a separate Truth Social post Monday that "as President, I do not have to go back to Congress to get approval of tariffs."

"I hope the clubs realize this and do not become hostages to these guys," she said, referring to Tapia and AFA Treasurer Pablo Toviggino.
