The interpreter for Los Angeles Dodgers sensation Shohei Ohtani is set to enter a not guilty plea to charges of bank and tax fraud. Despite last week's agreement to plead guilty in a related gambling scandal, wherein he's accused of embezzling nearly $17 million from Ohtani for illegal betting, the interpreter maintains his innocence in the current proceedings. The anticipated plea is considered a routine part of the legal process and does not negate his prior admission of guilt in the gambling case. The situation remains complex, as the interpreter navigates through the legal ramifications of his alleged involvement in financial crimes. As I am writing this, they are hoping to pull off a much-needed series win on Sunday, but there are so many question marks with this roster. Can they find a way to win games when they get behind early? At 40 games into the season, the Reds have a losing record. Fine LineThere is a fine line between being aggressive and making silly mistakes on the pads.

I am also an Indigenous studies scholar who works on Indigenous critiques of imperialism and settler colonialism as an associate professor in Literatures in English at Cornell. It does not want a vibrant, queer, feminist and grounded Indigenous studies department to exist across colleges and disciplines. To build support for Indigenous studies and Palestinian studies on its campus, Cornell needs to commit to a vision borne from divestment. The students in Cornell encampment have made the necessary connections and understand Palestinian dispossession and North American Indigenous dispossession as foundationally linked. The Cornell Daily Sun is interested in publishing a broad and diverse set of content from the Cornell and greater Ithaca community.

REUTERS/Sarah Meyssonnier/FileThe intense northern hemisphere summer heat that drove wildfires across the Mediterranean, buckled roads in Texas and strained power grids in China last year made it not just the warmest summer on record - but the warmest in some 2,000 years, new research suggests. The stark finding comes from one of two new studies released on Tuesday, as both global temperatures and climate-warming emissions continue to climb. Last year's summer season temperatures on lands between 30 and 90 degrees north latitude reached 2.07 degrees Celsius (3.73 degrees Fahrenheit) higher than pre-industrial averages, the study said.
