Five charges of crimes against humanity have been filed against deposed prime minister Sheikh Hasina at the International Crimes Tribunal over attempts to suppress the 2024 July Uprising. The prosecution submitted the formal charges and all documents to the office of the tribunal's registrar on Sunday afternoon. If the court accepts the formal charges, it will officially kick off the trial against ousted Awami League chief Hasina at the same court her government set up to try the war criminals of 1971. After conducting an investigation, a report on the case was submitted on May 12, bringing five charges of crimes against humanity against the accused. Several parties, including Jamaat-e-Islami and the National Citizen Party, have been demanding that the trial of Hasina and the Awami League be completed before the elections.

At least 30 people have died in the northeast region of India in the last two days following landslides and flash floods. At least seven people were killed and 69 injured when a highway bridge collapsed onto railway tracks, derailing an approaching train in Russia's Bryansk region that borders Ukraine, Russian authorities said early on Sunday. Russia's Railways had initially said on the Telegram messaging app that the bridge collapse was the result of an "illegal interference in the operation of transport," but it has since removed the post. A man died, and eight others are still remain missing after a passenger trawler carrying 39 people capsized in the Meghna River near Dubarchar area, adjacent to Karim Bazar in Hatiya, on Saturday afternoon, due to strong winds and waves. "As of 9 pm, eight people, including Saiful Islam (28), a district council member working at Bhasanchar police station, are still missing," he added. Earlier, the trawler left Bhasanchar Ghat around 2pm for Alibazar Ghat in Hatiya with 39 passengers on board. “After covering nearly eight kilometres, the trawler sank in a short time amid rough weather and strong waves near Dubarchar in the Meghna River,” said Bhasanchar Police Station OC Md Kutub Uddin. When the vessel began to sink, passengers jumped into the river in a last ditch attempt to survive.

Bangladesh and China have signed two memorandums of understanding (MoUs) to form a joint working group for expanding free trade and to enhance cooperation in the field of e-commerce. Four flights en route to Dhaka from different places have been rerouted and landed at the Shah Amanat International Airport due to inclement weather. These jets touched down in Chattogram between 4:30 pm and 5:30 pm on Saturday. A passenger trawler has tipped over in the Meghna River of Hatia, an island Upazila in Noakhali, owing to strong winds and waves. Around 33 people have been rescued after the incident, but six are still missing, police said. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert following heavy rainfall and a sharp rise in water levels of the Teesta River, which flows downstream from Sikkim into northern Bangladesh. Originating from Chhangu Lake in the Himalayan region of Sikkim, the Teesta River flows across the border into Bangladesh through Nilphamari's Kaliganj. A collision between a microbus and a CNG-run autorickshaw left two people dead in Chattogram's Anwara. Two others were injured in the accident that occurred on the Anwara-PAB road in Jhiuri around 8:00 am on Saturday, according to bdnews24.com. Anwara Police Station chief Md Monir Hossain said the collision killed two autorickshaw passengers on the spot. The dead could not be immediately identified. All the victims were passengers on the autorickshaw, Monir said.
