The KLM flight, KL 0589 travelling from Amsterdam to Accra had to be delayed for almost two hours at Schipol Airport to make way for the two medical doctors to revive the Ghanaian woman who collapsed on board the flight due to severe abdominal pains. The doctors, Chief Superintendent Dr. Samuel Ofori and Dr. Prof. Manfred Spitznas worked together to save the life of the "dying" woman. He described the journey as “the most stressful and eventful flight” he had encountered. Mr. Nyarko further commended the two doctors for saving the life of the passenger, adding “once a life was saved all our discomfort paled into insignificance”.
