In February 2013, Starbucks marked its footprint in Việt Nam by opening its first store in HCM City. “Over the past 10 years, Starbucks Vietnam has grown from strength to strength, achieving significant milestones that have helped cement our position as a leading brand in the Vietnamese market,” said general manager of Starbucks Vietnam, Patricia Marques. This marks the second such initiative in Việt Nam, following the introduction of Starbucks Reserve™ Vietnam Đà Lạt in 2015, 2017, 2018, and 2020. This shows, despite certain challenges, Việt Nam is still regarded as a "fertile land" for international brands in the F&B sector.

The Danish toy company, LEGO, recently celebrated its planting of 50,000 trees at its factory in Binh Duong province, Vietnam. The factory which has been under construction since November last year has made significant progress. It is the first carbon-neutral plant of the company, using electricity from the rooftop solar cell panels and the nearby solar farm. Currently, there are more than 2,000 construction workers building the plant and the number would double by the end of 2023, according to the Vietnam News. The LEGO factory in Binh Duong is expected to be ready to operate in the second half of 2024.

The central banks have agreed in principle to promote cross-border payment using methods including QR codes – a fast payment, among others. To date, there are nine bilateral QR code payment links in operation among ASEAN countries, with 10 more links in development. In this capacity, the SBV has been working together with the Thai central bank to promote cross-border payment connectivity within the region. Cross-border payment is to play an important role in promoting commercial and tourism activities in the future, according to economists and industry experts. A cross-border payment system will also allow countries to reduce their reliance on foreign currencies, especially for local businesses.
