QUẢNG NAM — Quảng Nam Province's public security department’s investigation unit has decided to prosecute two more people involving in an illegal temporary residency case following an expanded investigation. The two new accused had helped the six foreigners – who were travelling in Việt Nam and were staying in Hội An and HCM City – in return for VNĐ11 million (US$438). Mi, who lives in HCM City, was identified as a key player who masterminded the residency scam for business and work permissions. The six foreigners were then able to get certificates to stay in Việt Nam. While Anh remains in custody, Ngân was banned from leaving her house in HCM City.

HÀ NỘI — Việt Nam has welcomed its largest group of US Peace Corps volunteers since the programme began, with 20 volunteers arriving this month to support English education in Vietnamese high schools. "This is the largest group of Peace Corps volunteer trainees arriving to serve in Việt Nam. It heralds continued goodwill as Peace Corps builds relationships and trust with our partners," said Mikel Herrington, Peace Corps Việt Nam Country Director. The arrival of this new group brings the total number of currently serving Peace Corps volunteers in Việt Nam to 36. Việt Nam is the 143rd country to invite and partner with the Peace Corps.

International Health Quarantine Centres and CDCs in each city and province must update information on countries or regions currently reporting Marburg cases. The clinical signs of Marburg virus disease are difficult to diagnose as they can be confused with other endemic diseases in the region. Currently, there is no specific vaccine or antiviral medication available to treat Marburg virus disease. Due to its high fatality rate, patients with Marburg virus disease often have a poor prognosis.

The Ministry of Education and Training has introduced guidelines for school safety and decreed measures to reduce child-related traffic accidents. HCM CITY — HCM City has proposed to retain all surplus budget revenue from 2026 to 2030 to fund urban railway projects. Given the significant funding requirements and insufficient local budget resources, the city is exploring various funding mechanisms, including retaining all surplus revenue while still contributing 79 per cent to the central budget. The projected budget revenue is over VNĐ482.85 trillion this year, with VNĐ371.3 trillion collected in the first nine months. Experts have stressed the importance of assessing public debt risks when issuing bonds, as metro revenue will rely heavily on ticket sales. This year, the city’s estimated budget revenue is more than VNĐ482.8 trillion ($19.4 billion).
