But when anger only gets acted out, discharged, it ceases to be effective. She states that, collectively, as a society, we are stuck in our rage at them—as though the rawness of it is enough. Mustard notes that our stagnation in rage prevents us, as a society, from addressing the problem in a meaningful way to effect real change. Abhorrence, vitriol, and rage, however, are points on a continuum meant to stretch toward recovery and reparation.

Life expectancy, a fundamental measure of a population’s health, is an estimate of the average number of years a baby born in a given year might expect to live, given death rates at that time. For decades, U.S. life expectancy rose at least a little bit almost every year, thanks to medical advances and public health measures. In 2021, life expectancy fell to just under 76 1/2 years. In 2024, about 3.07 million U.S. residents died, about 18,000 fewer than the year before. Deaths from unintentional injuries — a category that includes drug overdoses — fell the most, dropping more than 14% in 2024.

LOADING ERROR LOADINGWASHINGTON, Jan 28 (Reuters) - ICE officers in Minnesota were directed on Wednesday to avoid engaging with “agitators” as they carry out President Donald Trump’s immigration crackdown, according to internal guidance reviewed by Reuters. “DO NOT COMMUNICATE OR ENGAGE WITH AGITATORS,” said an email disseminated by a top ICE official. ALL TARGETS MUST HAVE A CRIMINAL NEXUS.”AdvertisementUnder former President Joe Biden, ICE officers were required to focus on serious criminals, but the Trump administration rescinded that policy, allowing officers to arrest non-criminals without restrictions. ICE officers can run license plate checks for possible targets and should make an arrest if the registered owner of the vehicle is an immigrant with a criminal history, the guidance said. ICE will run the Minnesota operation with Border Patrol in a support role, it said, a reversal after months of Bovino-led clashes in city streets.

You know what’s not cute anymore? ILLIT’s “Not Cute Anymore” came out a couple of months ago. I also hear it as a little bit of a pointed rebuke to how a lot of girl groups are framed in K-pop.
