Lewin rejected that a halt in oil shipments from Venezuela — after the U.S. attacked the South American country and arrested its then leader — is responsible for the humanitarian situation in Cuba. It’s not because we’re not letting illicit Venezuelan oil continue to make Raúl Castro rich,” he added, referring to the former Cuban president. He noted that Cuba has not received oil shipments since the U.S. began its “naval blockade” on Venezuela in December. Díaz-Canel promised that in a week, he would share details regarding the island’s current situation and how the government will confront it. “I know people say, ‘Sacrifice, again?’ Well, if we don’t sacrifice, and if we don’t resist, what are we going to do?

The U.S. Department of Education said Thursday it is investigating reports that Tufts University and an education group shared confidential student data with political organizations to try to influence elections. The agency said it plans to examine whether Tufts and the National Student Clearinghouse violated the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act in the way they handled data for a national study of student political engagement. The National Student Clearinghouse said in a statement it is a “politically neutral” nonprofit and committed to complying with the federal privacy law. I was struck by the range of reasons people report microdosing psychedelics. These substances hold promise, he said, but they “need to be engaged with the same scientific rigor and thoroughness as any novel treatment.”The research simply has not proven that microdosing psychedelics is effective for treating mental health conditions. The same is true for other commonly used psychedelics, which are largely illegal and whose production and sale occur with little oversight. To the contrary, a JAMA Network Open study found that internet searches for psychedelic microdosing increased more than 13-fold between 2015 and 2023. A 2026 meta-analysis of 14 studies found no overall cognitive benefit from microdosing psychedelics.

Jeff Bezos killed the Washington Post on Wednesday. Worst of all, not that it’s a contest, but the Washington Post will now be a lot less Washingtonian. “The ecosystem of news and information, on- and off-platform, is changing radically,” Murray wrote to his staffers, fired and not. Bezos wanted the Post to die, because a vigorous, well-resourced Washington Post does not suit his vision for the world or his own bottom line. There is no conservative audience in the wings just waiting to subscribe to the Washington Post if the paper is a little bit friendlier to Trump.
