Kamala Harris recently questioned Donald Trump’s stamina in one of her few live appearances. Trump had canceled two interviews and a speech to the NRA, opening a door for Harris to claim he’s tiring. That doesn’t include the many previous rallies and interviews he’s done over the last year (WSJ 10/18/24). Running hoaxes and reading from a teleprompter requires very little stamina. The truth is, Kamala Harris is not and never will be ready for prime time and everyone knows it.

This is illegal, is it not? These actions by the South African immigrant, who made his billions on government contracts, who stamped his X on twitter so that he can be the loudest mouth on earth, yet desperately wants to rocket to Mars, can’t actually turn our precious democracy into a lottery…Elon Musk is dramatically ratcheting up his attempt to use his money to help Trump win Pennsylvania. In an appearance in Harrisburg, Pa., on Saturday, Musk, the world’s richest person, said that each day through Election Day he would be “randomly” awarding $1 million to some people who sign his super PAC’s conservative petition. Musk has previously said that his super PAC would pay $100 to every signer in the state. www.nytimes.com/...

11 Tennessee was one of the most anticipated games on the Week 8 college football slate. But the Crimson Tide fell 24-17 and dropped to 5-2 on the year, which put a dent in their College Football Playoff hopes. Alabama quarterback Jalen Milroe and Tennessee signal-caller Nico Iamaleava got off to sluggish starts. Volunteers fans and presumably the coaching staff held their collective breath when Iamaleava went down after he was tackled hard. Sampson barreled in from three yards after Iamaleava connected with Dont’e Thornton for 55 yards to the Alabama 3.

A few things to know after millions of people in Cuba were left without electricity for two days when the nation's electrical grid collapsedWhat to know about the electrical grid failure that plunged Cuba into darknessHAVANA -- Millions of people in Cuba were left without electricity for two days after the nation's energy grid went down when one of the island's major power plants failed. Even in a country that for decades has been accustomed to frequent outages amid a series of economic crises, the grid failure was unprecedented in modern times, aside from incidents involving powerful hurricanes, such as one in 2022. But problems in the electrical grid have helped sparked street protests several times in recent years, including large demonstrations in July 2021 that led to international criticism of the government for its harsh response. Cuba gets its power from huge thermoelectric plants like Antonio Guiteras and some smaller ones, which require crude oil to operate. Authorities have been working since last year on a project to upgrade the island’s electrical grid through the use of alternative power sources.

Calls arrived around 1:30 p.m. on Friday reporting a fire in front of a home in the Oakland hills. The fire burned two homes and damaged several others, while forcing hundreds to evacuate. The blaze in the Oakland Hills burned a day before the Oct. 19 anniversary of a 1991 fire that destroyed nearly 3,000 homes and killed 25 people. During a diablo wind, the air is so dry that relative humidity levels plunge, drying out vegetation and making it ready to burn. The strong winds are expected to last through part of the weekend.
