Lawsuit Against Perplexity AIA few days ago, the New York Times, which has previously filed several lawsuits against artificial intelligence platforms (including OpenAI and Microsoft), filed another lawsuit—this time against Perplexity AI—with a court in New York. The New York Times also alleges that Perplexity AI displays partial, abridged, or distorted versions of its copyrighted content. Consequently, the New York Times alleges that its trademark’s ability to fulfill its function has been impaired, since users could mistakenly think that even erroneous or incomplete information reflects the New York Times’ positions and journalistic standards of accuracy. Paramount makes new hostile offer for Warner Bros. DiscoveryParamount has upped the ante in its hostile takeover bid for Warner Bros. Discovery, announcing Monday that Oracle founder Larry Ellison will personally guarantee over $40 billion. The announcement comes after the Warner Bros. board of directors has rejected Paramount’s bid multiple times, opting instead to go with an offer from Netflix, which WBD, the parent company of CNN, says is more valuable. CNN's David Goldman reports.

These are sesame scallion buns inspired by Chinese scallion pancakes. Dousing the scallions in hot oil really brings out their savory, aromatic flavor. Once you cut these into spirals, sprinkle the tops with sesame seeds so they come out nice and crackly. And as soon as they come out of the oven, you brush them with a little more of that scallion oil to give it a really delicious scent and such a good flavor. And if you want, you can swipe them through with some chili oil.

The Ellisons — fils et père — have been seeking Trump’s support for their hostile bid to acquire Warner Bros Discovery, but Trump has been unhappy with recent episodes of “60 Minutes,” even under its new management. Sharyn Alfonsi, a long-standing “60 Minutes” correspondent who reported the segment that was removed, accused CBS News of pulling it for “political” reasons. I learned on Saturday that Bari Weiss spiked our story, INSIDE CECOT, which was supposed to air tonight. If the standard for airing a story becomes “the government must agree to be interviewed,” then the government effectively gains control over the 60 Minutes broadcast. America can survive without a “60 Minutes” it can trust, just as we can survive without trustworthy editorial pages of the Washington Post.

Erika Kirk had an ironic slip of the tongue during Turning Point USA’s AmericaFest this weekend. It’s all good.”Erika Kirk had a verbal fumble while presenting the Charlie Kirk Courage Award during Turning Point USA's AmericaFest summit on Saturday. “This is the greatest Freudian slip of all time,” author Richard Hanania noted on X. Following Charlie Kirk’s death, Erika Kirk became the face of Turning Point USA, and embarked on a marathon of media appearances where she vowed to continue her late husband’s mission of promoting a nativist, fundamentalist Christian view of society. Los Angeles was not looking particularly good in 1995. “It captures Los Angeles, modern Los Angeles, in a way no other film does,” director Christopher Nolan said at an Oscars event a few years ago. Mann, in conversation with Nolan, said he had lived in L.A. for years but until “Heat” had rarely explored outside its tonier quarters. There is one scene that takes place at sunset, with two characters taking in a view of downtown L.A. looking west from atop a parking garage. A few weeks ago, when I was using a rush-hour shortcut to get from El Segundo to downtown L.A., the city surprised me again.

When in fashionable doubt, a Canadian tuxedo is always a win. Now, don’t think that the denim washes have to match for it to work because they don’t. The perfect example is Big Sean's fit at the LA Times Festival of Books: he wore a dark-washed denim MIU MIU jacket, light-washed jeans on the bottom, and a pair of brown boots to bring it all together. Let’s bring this look to life with affordable pieces from Amazon.

In the latest blow to the US offshore wind industry, the Trump administration announced Monday it is suspending the federal leases for all large offshore wind projects currently under construction, citing unspecified national security risks. It marks a major escalation in President Donald Trump’s attacks against offshore wind, a form of energy he has long railed against. Wind turbine parts for Revolution Wind, one of the now-stalled offshore wind projects in New England, are staged on a pier in New London, Connecticut, in September. Wind turbine foundation components for an offshore wind project in New England are manufactured at the Port of Providence in Providence, Rhode Island, in June 2024. Glenn Youngkin has led a push toward vast offshore wind buildouts in an attempt to satisfy that state’s growing energy needs.

Whether because of careful laundering or wholesale blacking-out, it’s clear that the Justice Department has not released the files as the law demands. It is interesting, Joe Heller points out, that Dear Leader is eager to have his name plastered all over the country except on those specific documents. That was well before Dear Leader announced his plans to build an actual Arc de Trompe, but they could already see the direction we were headed and who was swelling the ranks of that parade. And who came to America seeking religious freedom, specifically the freedom to drive out people like Roger Williams and Ann Hutchinson who believed the wrong religious things. Okay, Dear Leader may have invented that number.

Credit: Fox SportsThe Washington Post has long been considered one of the cornerstones of not just American journalism but also sports coverage. Georgetown coach Ed Cooley threw a water bottle in the stands and hit a kid. It wasn’t until about half an hour later that an article with a Washington Post byline (Gene Wang) was finally published. The only information related to the incident or fallout was a reshare of Wang’s X post, which had gone up at 3:15 p.m. EST. But there’s something different about seeing it happen to The Washington Post.

Would brand new little kei cars in America need to adhere to the same safety and emissions regulations as “normal” cars? That, more than anything, might be where Kei cars won’t work in America, but side-by-side type vehicles could. I do think that rigid doors could be made for far, far less than the nearly $1000 per unit some makers charge for these things now; once again volume is the driver here. Don’t kid yourself about kei car abilities; they’re great for certain uses, but they’re limited. You can’t argue with the facts; it’s probably quite unlikely that Kei cars are coming to America, and even more unlikely that they’ll be built here.
