The brief state of emergency contrasts with extraordinary powers granted to El Salvador President Nayib Bukele to deal with gang violence that have been renewed monthly by that country's Congress for nearly four years. In January, gangs in Guatemala retaliated against police after authorities put down riots in three prisons.

Anderson Cooper is leaving CBS News’ “60 Minutes” program after nearly two decades, in the latest staffing shake-up to hit the storied news magazine and network. Cooper has been a “60 Minutes” correspondent through a deal between Paramount Skydance-owned CBS News and Warner Bros. Discovery’s CNN since the 2006-2007 season, according to his page on the CBS News website. “For more than two decades, Anderson Cooper has taken 60 Minutes viewers on journeys to faraway places, told us unforgettable stories, reported consequential investigations and interviewed many prominent figures," the network said. Since the launch of CNN’s prime‑time television news program “Anderson Cooper 360,” Cooper has covered major global news events, ranging from U.S. presidential inaugurations and political conventions to the Newtown, Connecticut, school shooting. Lachlan Cartwright’s Breaker newsletter first reported Cooper’s departure from “60 Minutes.”

On February 13 and 14, President Donald J. Trump’s representatives filed three applications with the United States Patent and Trademark Office to trademark his name for future use on an airport. Gerben emphasizes that while it is common for public officials to have landmarks named after them, “never in the history of the United States” has “a sitting president’s private company…sought trademark rights” before such a naming. “President Trump’s assets are in a trust managed by his children. In September 2025 the IRS granted tax-exempt status to the Donald Trump Mount Rushmore Memorial Legacy, making it a charity that can accept tax-free donations. Happy Presidents Day 2026.

If the New York Giants lose tight end Daniel Bellinger in NFL free agency, it seems unlikely they would simply give the backup tight end job to untested 2025 seventh-round pick Thomas Fidone. That could open the door for the Giants to bring in one of John Harbaugh’s former players with the Baltimore Ravens, tight end Isaiah Likely. The 2025 season was the 6-foot-4, 245-pound Likely’s least-productive in Baltimore, as he caught just 27 passes. Given that Likely will be just 26 years old when the 2026 campaign begins, it wouldn’t be surprising to see him have a big market in free agency. Would you rather see the Giants keep Bellinger, or add Likely?

Last night Hayes picked up an assist and dropped former Penguin Zach Aston-Reese in a fight with a mean short left. The question now becomes just how much they’ll be looking to do to get Hayes a chance to get back into the NHL lineup. That would apply to moving in or out of the lineup, or even status on the team itself. One area working in the Pens’ favor is the 23-player roster maximum disappears after the NHL trade deadline. One of those angles will certainly be how much they decide to work Hayes back in for NHL opportunities down the stretch.

Team Sweden was probably one of the bigger disappointments of the group stage, finishing in third place behind Slovakia and Finland. Crosby, meanwhile, is just three wins away from winning his third Olympic gold medal and adding another major accomplishment to his resume. If he gets it, he will be the first player to ever win three Stanley Cups and three Olympic gold medals. The sub-plot to that game, as if it needed one, would be the Erik Karlsson revenge game against Mike Sullivan. Will the United States win its first Olympic gold medal since 1980?
