The US ambassador to Paris, Charles Kushner’s access to the French government has been restored, allowing him to resume his diplomatic duties. In Belgium, US Ambassador Bill White has repeatedly weighed into a judicial investigation into circumcision practices in Antwerp’s orthodox Jewish community. That, says Pierre Vimont, a former French ambassador to Washington, requires a new kind of vigilance from the Europeans. “American foreign policy has a very strong ideological content nowadays, and I think this is what needs to be handled very carefully,” he told CNN. France, he said, had “no lessons to learn from the reactionary international movement,” when it came to ideological violence.

Another member of the New England Patriots coaching staff will not be back with the team in 2026. Ben McAdoo, who spent last season as a senior defensive assistant, will leave the team after two seasons. A former head coach of the New York Giants and offensive coordinator with the Carolina Panthers, McAdoo arrived in New England under head coach Jerod Mayo in 2024. Originally serving as a senior assistant on the offensive side of the ball, he was retained under new HC Mike Vrabel in 2025. However, for the first time in his two decades in the NFL, McAdoo was asked to work on defense.

Carlos Carrasco was, well, kind of what you’d expect against a lineup with a bunch of Yankees regulars. He walked Aaron Judge, gave up a cheapie lofted-down-the-line homer to Jazz Chisholm Jr., and then got knocked around, ball-in-play variety. The Braves lifted him when it was 4-0 and fill-in Schay Schanaman was greeted with another double that made it 5-0. The rest of the Atlanta pitching slate was pretty boring: Elieser Hernandez, Taylor Scott, Austin Pope, and Anthony Molina. Yankees pitching put together an 11/1 K/BB ratio, which isn’t necessarily surprising given the lineup the Braves sent over to Tampa.

Economists were expecting wholesale inflation to increase by 0.3%, which would have resulted in a 2.6% annual rate. PPI, which measures the average change in prices that producers receive for their goods and services, is closely watched as a potential bellwether for the prices consumers may see in the months ahead. Trade services leapt 2.5% in January, a potential indication that costs could be passed along to other businesses and consumers. Prices rose 0.8% versus 0.6% in December to bring the annual rate to 3.6%, the highest in 10 months. Other details in Friday’s report further corroborated the idea that President Donald Trump’s steep and sweeping tariffs continued to drive prices higher for US businesses, which in turn eventually leads to higher prices for consumers, Reid said.

Kraft Heinz has said it plans to remove dyes from its U.S. products by the end of 2027. Target’s May deadline is set to hit before the dates by which big cereal companies have pledged to remove artificial colors. Froot Loops maker WK Kellogg, now owned by Ferrero, has pledged to remove synthetic dyes from all its products by the end of 2027. Walmart said last fall it would remove synthetic dyes from its store-brand foods and phase out roughly 30 other ingredients, including certain artificial sweeteners and preservatives. The retailer in 2019 launched its largest private-label brand, Good & Gather, without synthetic colors, artificial sweeteners and flavors.

How immersive reading cured my reading slumpImmersive reading, if you didn’t know, is when you listen to an audibook while reading a physical or digital copy of the book at the same time. Why does immersive reading work? For me personally, when I’m listening to an audiobook, I treat it like a podcast. “Customers who currently listen while reading along are among Audible’s most engaged users, consuming nearly twice as much content per month as audiobook-only customers.

No one ever votes for my dad — not even my dad — because he never says anything funny. In the last year, he’s gotten so forgetful, he’s landed in the hospital four times because he can’t remember to drink water. If my mom and brother were there, this would have been my dad’s chance to call for a vote. Courtesy of Andrea AskowitzWhen I was a kid, my dad didn’t seem interested in me or my brother. “This is rough.”Tony was the first to notice my dad wasn’t on his game.

Two recent studies illustrate how measles outbreaks can expose vulnerabilities in health systems and schools. A detailed study of a measles outbreak in Birmingham, UK, revealed the intense pressure placed on Birmingham Children’s Hospital. From Europe to Africa and North America, measles outbreaks are rising as vaccination coverage slips. Together, these studies illustrate how measles outbreaks can expose vulnerabilities in health systems, schools and public services, providing lessons for communities where vaccination coverage is falling. Recovery has scarcely begun, but insult is being added to fire victims’ injuries as local officials –—especially Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass — engage in a tawdry game of finger-pointing. When she was in Congress, Bass used her position as a member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee to travel widely on the taxpayers’ dime, particularly to Africa. Crowley’s lawsuit claiming Bass “orchestrated a campaign of retaliation” is the least of Bass’ fire-related concerns as she seeks re-election this year. Beginning in December, the Los Angeles Times has published revelations about how politics has intruded on a supposedly dispassionate report on the fire department’s wildfire responses. In response to the Times revelation, Bass distanced herself from it and ordered another investigation of fire department responses, this time by the new fire chief, Jaime Moore.

Netflix has released the first trailer for a riveting docuseries chronicling the behind-the-scenes battle to succeed media mogul Rupert Murdoch. Dynasty: The Murdochs is a four-part documentary that details the fight to take control of the Fox News kingpin’s empire based on thousands of pages of documents, emails and text messages. Dynasty is billed as presenting “an exhaustive history of Rupert Murdoch’s rise while homing in on the tensions that have built for decades between him, his chosen heir Lachlan, and Rupert’s three other adult children: James Murdoch, Elisabeth Murdoch and Prudence MacLeod.”From the official description: “This limited series exposes the private machinations of a family torn apart by power, politics, and a desperate desire for their father’s love. While Rupert Murdoch has spent over 80 years building an empire that shapes governments and democracies, the series poses the ultimate question: Is a dynasty a family or a business?”In the trailer (below), the comparisons to HBO’s Succession — which itself was inspired by the Murdoch family — are laid bare, with one observer noting, “it reads like an episode of Succession” and that Murdoch “wasn’t raising children, he was raising possible successors,” as well as, “it’s like a family squabble on steroids that has a huge effect on our politics and our lives.”The documentary is directed by Liz Garbus and includes interviews with reporters who covered the family’s revealing legal battle, including New York Times reporters Jim Rutenberg and Jonathan Mahler, as well as former Fox News employees. Dynasty: The Murdochs will premiere on Netflix on March 13.

Google Maps could soon be usable in the home of Samsung. South Korea has long restricted the export of mapping data over national security concerns leaving Google Maps, launched there in 2008, to flounder against local rivals Naver and Kakao. The Transport Ministry said the revision is being made in the interest of promoting tourism.

All eyes are on the 2026 NFL Combine this week, and eight former Michigan Wolverines were invited to participate. Well, the NFL Combine can certainly help some of these guys get picked. Can Derrick Moore show enough to get picked up in the first round? He’s probably a Day 3 pick anyways, but he also could boost his stock with an elite NFL Combine performance. It’ll be interesting to see how he looks at the NFL Combine and if he’s able to get that spark back that made him so automatic.
