At the national level, the government moved to accelerate electricity imports and deploy additional power equipment. The disruption underscores how attacks on power infrastructure can cascade into broader humanitarian and economic impacts. Restoring adequate capacity will depend on rapid imports and repairs to damaged assets, continued fuel supplies for generators and weather easing. For now, Kyiv faces days of constrained electricity, curtailed services and a high-stakes effort to prevent the outage crisis from deepening during the coldest stretch of winter.

The Denver Broncos survived a dramatic 33-30 overtime victory against the Buffalo Bills but paid a steep price: starting quarterback Bo Nix suffered a fractured right ankle late in the extra period and will miss the remainder of the season. Team communications indicate Nix is expected to undergo surgery, and coach Sean Payton said the injury occurred three plays before Denver’s game-winning field goal. Josh Allen drove the Bills into field-goal range in the final minute of regulation to force overtime. Photographs and team posts showed Nix walking off the field following the win, a mixed image of triumph and immediate concern. Allen, visibly emotional, said, “It’s extremely difficult, I feel like I let my teammates down tonight,” adding, “It’s been a long season.

Immigration agents blocked Maple Avenue and 11th Street in the Fashion District on Thursday to allow a caravan to pass through, according to a witness. LOADING ERROR LOADINGWhite House deputy chief of staff Stephen Miller on Friday claimed the United States of America has a right to annex Greenland because the “tiny country” of Denmark can’t defend its self-governing territory against U.S. military might. Advertisement“Greenland is the size of one-fourth the continental United States,” he told Sean Hannity. “With respect to Denmark, Denmark is a tiny country with a tiny economy and a tiny military. They cannot control the territory of Greenland.”He continued, “Under every understanding of law that has existed about territorial control for 500 years, to control a territory you have to be able to defend a territory, improve a territory, inhabit a territory. Greenland is 25% larger than Alaska.”He then argued the U.S. spends too much money on Greenland’s defense to not just take it — and that Trump is merely “insisting that we be respected.”Advertisement“But they say, well … it belongs 100% to Denmark,” Miller told Hannity.

Guatemalan authorities are reporting that inmates are holding several dozen prison guards in three prisonsBy The Associated PressGUATEMALA CITY -- Several dozen Guatemalan prison guards were being held hostage by inmates in three prisons Saturday following apparently coordinated disturbances, authorities said. Interior Minister Marco Antonio Villeda said he was willing to talk with the inmates, but would not accede to their demands in seeking the release of the 46 guards. “We also don’t allow groups that have sown fear to impose their conditions.”National Police were deployed around the affected prisons. “The link between the prison system and the criminality outside has to be cut,” Arévalo said in an interview with The Associated Press Thursday. “That’s why all this effort to regain control of the prison system is very important.”
