In his new memoir, Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro (D) suggests that when Kamala Harris’ team vetted him to be her running mate, aides asked if he had ever been an agent of the Israeli government, a question he found deeply offensive, the New York Times reports. The Atlantic: “The account highlights some of the fault lines that Democrats are navigating as they try to put the 2024 campaign behind them and chart a path back to the White House. With his book, Shapiro aims to showcase why Democrats lost and how his brand of consensus-building politics can usher them back to power. But before the consensus building, it seems, Shapiro felt compelled to do some score settling.”

The announcement Saturday night signaled an unusually direct effort by the White House to influence college football scheduling and television programming. “The Army-Navy Game is one of our Greatest American Traditions — Unmatched Patriotism, Courage, and Honor! The move would be beneficial to Paramount Skydance-owned CBS, which has exclusive rights to the Army-Navy Game through 2038. It’s unclear how Trump’s potential executive order could be enforced. President Donald Trump’s latest tariff threats over Greenland and Europe’s potential countermeasures could result in significantly higher import prices that could weaken both economies. The EU implemented its trade agreement with the Trump administration last summer, but it hasn’t yet signed the accord. Trump may have allowed for a loophole, however: Trump’s tariffs are directed at a select few member nations, not the entire European Union. So the eight countries could reroute trade within the EU’s free trade bloc to avoid those tariffs. It’s the uncertainty about whether Trump will escalate his tariff threats or back out before imposing new duties that could make trading partners steer clear of America long-term.

In the space of two days, the Syrian military, aided by tribal militia, has driven Kurdish forces from wide swathes of northern Syria that they have held for more than a decade. After the territorial gains, Syria’s president said Sunday that an agreement had been reached with the mainly Kurdish Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) to end the fighting in the northeast of the country. But beginning on Saturday, the Syrian military pushed into areas not covered by the agreement, and Kurdish forces appear to have retreated in disarray.
