The new walking football group, which has been set up by Cumbria Deaf Association with the help of funding from Sellafield Ltd. via Active Cumbria, launched on Monday, November 4, with the first session being led by Cumberland FA's Ray Sempill. The session will be held every week on Monday evenings at Workington's Leisure Centre on Griffin Street and will also be led by former Carlisle City Deaf FC manager Jayson KigginsRebecca Kiggins, Cumbria Deaf Association's West Cumbria community engagement coordinator was on hand to express her delight after the new group's launch. "The walking football for the deaf group aims to introduce deaf and hard of hearing people into the world of football, with a view to improving health and well-being for participants new to the sport, or who may not have participated for a few years." Australia's government says it will introduce "world-leading" legislation to ban children under 16 from social media, El.kz cites BBC. Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said the proposed laws, to be tabled in parliament next week, were aimed at mitigating the "harm" social media was inflicting on Australian children. While many of the details are yet to be debated, the government said the ban will not apply to young people already on social media. The government says that the onus will be on social media platforms to show they are taking reasonable steps to prevent access. While most experts agree that social media platforms can harm the mental health of adolescents, many are split over the efficacy of trying to outlaw them all together.

A 12-year-old boy was among five people who died in the fiery crash of a small business jet near a suburban Phoenix airport, authorities said Wednesday. Preliminary information indicated the six-seater HondaJet HA-420 aircraft was headed to Provo, Utah, when it aborted takeoff at the Falcon Field airport in Mesa on Tuesday afternoon. The plane crashed through the airport’s metal fence before colliding with a vehicle that was traveling on a road west of the airport, according to authorities. The National Transportation Safety Board is leading the investigation with help from the Federal Aviation Administration and Mesa authorities. Four of the five passengers aboard the jet died at the scene, Mesa police said Wednesday.
