Ukraine fired a number of British Storm Shadow cruise missiles into Russia’s Kursk region on Wednesday, a day after firing American long-range missiles into the country, according to Pentagon and Ukrainian officials. But President Biden last week authorized the first use of the American Army Tactical Missile Systems, known as ATACMS, deep inside Russia. American officials say the pivot was in response to Moscow’s surprise decision to bring North Korean troops into the fight. Prime Minister Keir Starmer of Britain quickly followed suit, authorizing Ukraine to use the Storm Shadows, officials said. Britain had previously allowed Ukraine to use the missiles against Russian positions within Ukrainian territory.

The budget announcement that “delinked farm payments” are now capped means that tenant farmers are worried about how to pay rent next year. And the changes to agricultural property relief and business property relief mean that tenant farmers face the stark reality that their landlord may well be forced to evict their tenants and sell land to pay an inheritance tax bill. Ukraine has fired U.K.-supplied Storm Shadow missiles into Russia for the first time, British media reported Wednesday, after being given the green light from London. Several missiles were launched against at least one Russian military target, The Financial Times said, citing an unidentified Western official. The Guardian said Britain had given Ukraine permission to use the missiles in Russia in response to Moscow's deployment of North Korean troops on the border. Russia said Tuesday that the missiles had been used to target a military facility in the Bryansk border region. Both Ukraine and Russia are jockeying for upper hand on the battlefield before Trump re-enters the White House in January.

More infoFormer Manchester United man Paul Pogba will be making plans for his return to football, but is the Premier League really a viable option? Matty HewittPaul Pogba returning to the Premier League certainly wasn't on my bingo card at the start of the season. Isaac JohnsonI do think Pogba could play in the Premier League again - if (a big if) he returns to the required fitness levels. Richard GarnettPaul Pogba would be fantastic back in the Premier League - if you lack silly dance routines and Instagram. Sadly, Pogba's bad decisions seem to have outweighed his good moments so a return to the Premier League only really seems plausible for someone like Todd Boehly and Chelsea.

Jessica Kariisa [00:03:26] So now we’re at a point where SFMTA, the agency that runs MUNI, is talking about huge cuts to service. Jessica Kariisa [00:05:58] I mean, can we talk about the impact that some of these cuts would have? Dan Brekke [00:06:17] Well, you know, MUNI says that 38% of its ridership qualifies as low income. And when they went through this exercise of talking about these various cuts, they might do, they estimated the number of people in the city, you know city of 800,000 plus, who would be affected. There may have to be some new city tax, right?

American and Ukrainian officials have confirmed Kyiv employed US-made Atacms missiles to strike targets within Russia. The Kremlin stated that six missiles were launched at the town of Karachev, with fragments from one reportedly causing a significant explosion. In response, Russia has announced it is adjusting its nuclear doctrine. The Kremlin’s spokesperson, Dmitry Peskov, said Moscow would interpret any attack against it carried out by a non-nuclear state using weapons supplied by a nuclear state as a joint assault. But what exactly are Atacms, and why has their deployment unsettled Russia so deeply?

There is no confirmation that Washington approved the use of British Storm Shadow cruise missiles inside Russia as of noon (Kyiv time) Wednesday, Nov. 20. Ukrainian news outlet RBC Ukraine, citing British news outlet The Times, reported Wednesday that “the US gave Ukraine the ‘green light’ to use British Storm Shadow missiles to strike deep into the Russian Federation” before adding that the UK has not officially confirmed the decision. However, upon evaluating The Times’ report, there was no confirmation that Washington gave its green light. Approval to use Storm Shadows deep inside Russia may be in place, but the latest reports are insufficient to substantiate such a claim. Flanagan’s latest work **Question 7,** a genre-defying exploration of family, memory and Tasmanian history, was unanimously selected by the judges as this year’s winner of the Baillie Gifford Prize for nonfiction. The author’s stance adds to growing pressure on Baillie Gifford, which has faced criticism over its investment portfolio. Despite declining the prize money, Flanagan expressed a willingness to engage with Baillie Gifford’s board, offering to share firsthand accounts of how fossil fuels are impacting his native Australia.
