Harris’s campaign announced that she would not be speaking on Tuesday night. Her campaign co-chair Cedric Richmond addressed the crowd assembled for the vice-president’s election-night party, and said: 'We still have votes to count. We still have states that have not been called yet. We will continue, overnight, to fight to make sure that every vote is counted, that every voice has spoken. So you won’t hear from the vice-president tonight, but you will hear from her tomorrow.'

Hyderabad: The family of a 26-year-old student, Syed Sufiyan Hussain, who went to the UK last month to pursue higher studies there, has urged the ministry of external affairs to help them get him back to Hyderabad owing to his mental health. "He was alright here, but after reaching the UK, there was a change in his behaviour which is causing concern to us," Sufiyan's sister Syeda Aineen, a resident of Musheerabad, told TOI on Wednesday. Sufiyan went to pursue master's course from the University of Northumbria, Newcastle, London, on Oct 11. Police arrested him and shifted him to Newham Centre for Mental Health. "Sufiyan's parents have requested me to help them in bringing their son back home," Amjed Ullah Khan said.

The New York Times editorial board was despondent over President-elect Donald Trump’s decisive victory, declaring his return to power was a “grave threat” to the republic. Trump’s election poses a grave threat to [the] republic, but he will not determine the long-term fate of American democracy. The New York Times is not among those enthused about Trump’s win. AP Photo/Alex BrandonUnlike other legacy newspapers that skipped endorsements in this cycle, like the Washington Post and Los Angeles Times, the New York Times laid down its marker in clear fashion in September. It wasn’t a shocker for the Times to back a Democratic candidate, though: This was the 17th consecutive presidential election it had done so.

McCune said he earned the win and that the oil industry super PAC had no big influence. I think that worked well in Belmont District 4,” he said. In the past, oil industry groups have poured money into elections in Richmond and Benicia, cities that are home to the Chevron and Valero refineries. Hurt has pointed out that Belmont has no oil industry infrastructure. Its representatives and those for the oil companies funding it have not commented on why they spent money on flyers supporting McCune.

This was really about some very, very powerful forces who invested more money in a mayor’s race than has ever happened in the history of San Francisco by a huge amount,” Peskin told KQED on Tuesday night. Meanwhile, a directly competing measure from Peskin, Proposition E, was similarly aimed to reform the city’s commission system. That measure, however, did not create an arbitrary cap on the number of commissions. Supporters of Proposition D said that commissions have made it harder for elected officials to make direct decisions and have hampered government efficiency. “This is a city that refuses to be pushed in the wrong direction by a handful of wealthy billionaires.”

Arizona and every other battleground state has gone for Trump, and decisively handed him a second term. My colleague wrote recently about the deeper meaning of the “promise of America” that Kamala Harris invoked on the campaign trail. This America is cruel and vicious, uninterested in equality or justice, instead intent on indulging its basest desires. I hope my kids inherit some semblance of that “promise of America.” But I’d be lying if I said I believed, in this moment, that we will. But the greatness of America has always been our resilience and our commitment to truth and justice.

Rohan Ferguson and Larne have lost their first two Conference League matchesRohan Ferguson has admitted that Larne must sharpen up as a defensive unit if they want to avoid further pain in the Uefa Conference League. It’s matchday three on the big stage for the Invermen when they take on Swiss side St Gallen at Windsor Park on Thursday night. It is game after game after game with short windows in between. “This is the club’s first time in this position in Europe, we just need to take it game by game and learn. Larne have produced some memorable Irish League performances at Windsor Park but top European sides can cause them a bigger headache.

It not only allows presidential nominees to reach new audiences but also enables other influential figures to voice their opinions and endorse candidates. This week, several reports and videos circulated on social media, supposedly from the FBI, that were later confirmed as fake by the FBI. Not only have Russia and Iran made statements about the election, but several social media figures have also weighed in. Throughout the election, both Kamala Harris and Donald Trump had celebrities appear at their rallies. Presented with a choice between electing the first black, female president on a promise of a sunnier future, and a racist, misogynist, twice-impeached convicted felon hawking hatred and retribution, they picked Mr Trump. In 2021, Mr Trump seemed briefly to have lost his own party. Many voters relish Mr Trump’s willingness to break the system, because they feel it is already broken for them. Mr Trump’s pledge to withdraw from climate accords and bolster fossil fuels would end all hope of keeping global heating to below 1.5C, experts believe. But the decision must be to recommit to defending democracy and all of those imperilled by Mr Trump’s return.

Today, my thoughts are with the people of Ukraine. It depends what Putin is prepared to give Trump and how well Zelensky (the 'master salesman') handles the President. If Trump concocts a plan and Putin refuses to go along with it, then all bets are off. That’s easy, especially with Ukraine tucked away. Trump is a simple man who will provide simple solutions like injecting bleach to cure Covid.

Trump is dangerous from the far-right, and we simply do not know what he is going to do. The Supreme Court, despite its domination by people appointed by Trump, won't let him do what he might want. It is to provide stability and services, and Trump wants to upset that. For example, are the forces around Trump going to try to retain power come what may? We have to have answers as to how government could work, not in the way that Trump wants, not in the way that Harris wanted, but in the way that people need it to work.
