Maenclochog (pronounced ‘mine-cloch-og’) is a small village located in the northern part of the county that is certainly worth a detour. As reported by WalesOnline, the village was recently named one of the best places to live in the UK by The Times and taking in its impressive landscape, it’s no surprise as to why. But the drive is not too long, if you are travelling from Cardiff you can reach the village within two hours. For instance, researchers have found what are believed to be the remains of a 13th-century castle in the village. Additionally, a tunnel just outside the village has become notorious for its strategic used during the Second World War.

Write to letters@thetimes.co.ukSir, President Trump is wrong. The reason US jobs have gone overseas is nothing to do with wicked foreigners taking advantage of “good old Uncle Sam” (“Trump ramps up trade war with Beijing”, “Our goals aren’t bananas, explains US trade chief”, news, Apr 9; letters, Apr 7, 8 & 9). Many have been exported by US companies that realised people in southeast Asia and rural China were willing to work for less than those in the US. Even if American businesses are willing to incur the costs of setting up factories at home, US wages would still be higher than in Asia. And even if the president can force down wages so home products cost less

Hamas is appealing against the UK government’s decision to designate it as a terror group by claiming that the ruling breaches the European Convention on Human Rights. The organisation has instructed British lawyers to launch legal action in a bid to remove it from a Home Office list of terrorist organisations, which makes it a criminal offence to have any association or show support for the group in the UK. In a legal application seen by The Times, the Islamist group called on Yvette Cooper, the home secretary, to depart from Britain’s “morally and legally indefensible policy of siding with the Zionist oppressor against the oppressed people of Palestine”. The group claimed that proscription was contrary to the “duties of the British state” to

Hollywood, Atlanta and Nashville are pockets of incredible exposure.”The booking executive agreed that “uncertainty hasn’t changed the ways we think about clients. “When we do North American routing for international acts, that often includes border crossings at Vancouver, Toronto and Montreal,” the booking executive said. Covey said he didn’t expect other countries to retaliate against American artists touring abroad. The U.S. is still the epicenter of the music industry.”The booking executive did have one grim piece of advice, though.

Adopting an annual Migration Plan, in which decisions are based on evidence about the costs and benefits of different types of migration routes, would allow the government to weigh up the trade-offs inherent in migration policy (“Reforms to tighten immigration delayed”, news, 7 Apr). It would be able to set out what changes would mean for the economy, the labour market and public services, rather than making incoherent, knee-jerk changes or announcements in response to labour or net migration statistics. But when, year after year, ministers are forced to disown the migration system that they oversee, it is little wonder the public is losing confidence. Adopting an annual plan would allow the home secretary and her cabinet colleagues to take back control. Universal Studios will build its first European theme park in Bedfordshire, England, studio officials said Wednesday, previewing a sprawling resort that could combine iconic American brands like “Jurassic Park” with classic British characters like Paddington Bear, Dr. Who and Harry Potter. Set to open in 2031, British officials said the yet-to-be-named theme park would be Britain’s largest single tourist attraction. Executives at Comcast, Universal’s parent company, said the 476-acre complex would include themed lands, rides, a 500-room hotel, shops and dining. Keir Starmer, the British prime minister, hailed the announcement as a boost for his country’s sluggish economy and an example of his government’s attempt to cut through the red tape that has long made it costly and difficult to complete complex projects in Britain. “Today we closed the deal on a multibillion-pound investment that will see Bedford home to one of the biggest entertainment parks in Europe,” Mr. Starmer said in a statement, adding that the project would create around 28,000 jobs.
