After a private hormone clinic for transgender youth recently became the first of its kind in the UK to receive approval from the Care Quality Commission (CQC), staff are hopeful that the service will be a lifeline for those struggling with their gender identity. The CQC’s stamp of approval will allow clinicians working at the clinic to prescribe hormones to patients aged 16 and over while being routinely regulated to ensure that the services are safe, effective and well led. It’s like a GP can’t decide not to prescribe someone a contraceptive pill because they don’t believe in it for religious reasons,” Kelly continues. “My goal is to help people feel happier, more content in life, engaged in life and getting some enjoyment from life,” adds Kelly. So, once I understand that they understand the risks and they sign the consent form, they begin their hormone treatment.”

"If Assange is not punished and silenced, he may reveal even more shocking crimes of the United States that have not yet been disclosed”. Journalistic organizations issue statements and organize protests in an effort to urge the British court to adopt a fair decision. The general opinion is that the United States is obstructing the investigation of the crimes against humanity it has itself committed by insisting on extradition and harsh punishment for the founder of WikiLeaks. For families who pay the full cost of dementia care themselves, the VAT costs for two days of care a week day care is nearly £1800 a year. That’s why I am supporting this call for the Government to stop VAT being charged on any aspect of dementia care. "Receiving a dementia diagnosis is challenging enough for any family, but because of the failures to adequately fund social care, families are already footing an unfair Dementia ‘Premium’ for their social care, which the Alzheimer’s Society estimate at over 15 per cent. "During this cost of living crisis, the least the Government could do is to remove VAT on Community Interest Companies providing social care like the Filo Project. Their vital work supports people living with dementia keep active and well, as well as providing respite for their family carers."
