Tens of thousands of people have joined protests in Greece, with strike action bringing the country to a standstill, on the first anniversary of a deadly train crash blamed on decades of poor railway management. As church bells tolled in memory of the 57 men and women who lost their lives in an accident deemed entirely preventable, protesters gathered in major cities to demand justice for the victims. The tragedy, which also left dozens injured, occurred when a passenger train carrying more than 350 people – mostly students – returning from a holiday weekend in Athens careened head-on into a freight train. Palestine solidarity activists across Canada co-ordinated blockades at the offices of several arms manufacturers this week and renewed calls for an immediate embargo on all military exports to Israel. The action included activists from World Beyond War Canada (WBW), Labour for Palestine (LFP), Jews Say No To Genocide, Palestinian Youth Movement (PYM), and trade unions. But Keir Starmer demanded Mr Sunak take action against Ms Truss too as he must take "accountability" for the Conservative Party. Despite Labour saying it was a sign of the "abject lack of integrity" at the heart of the Tory Party, Mr Sunak backed Mr Pursglove and took no action against him. Asked whether Mr Sunak has confidence in Mr Pursglove, the PM's spokesman said: “I mean, as a minister, yes." But when pressed on the issue, Mr Sunak said not a "single MP" supported Robinson, who founded the far-right English Defence League. It came just days after Ms Braverman described homelessness as a "lifestyle choice", which Mr Sunak failed to criticise her, only choosing to distance himself from them.

However, there are exceptions for head injuries, goalkeeper injuries, injuries caused by fouls that result in a card being shown and serious medical events. The Match of the Day host may also be annoyed by the new rules regarding substitutions as the MLS bids to further combat time-wasting. There are also exemptions to the sub rule, such as goalkeepers and when there’s an injury and/or medical staff entering the field. Furthermore, special situations that have been pre-approved by the league office and any safety or security reasons are exempt from the rule. The rules are certainly controversial ones and it remains to be seen how they will impact MLS matches in the coming weeks and months.
