Tahir Kazmi--Emmbrook and Bearwood CC - 2nd XI Vs Hurley CC - 1st XIHurley were brought back down to earth with a bump at Lowther Road as the league format changed to Win/Lose/Draw, being bundled out by Emmbrook & Bearwood 2nd XI for a paltry 60 runs and losing a thrilling, if low scoring, contest. Adi Kuchimanchi then produced an unplayable delivery to dismiss Mohammad Sharam, and when Tahir Kazmi went back to a full-length delivery, Hurley were reduced to 3 for 2 from two overs. The fact that six of the Hurley wickets fell to catches says a lot about the temperament of their batting. --Hurley CC - Saturday 2XI Vs Penn & Tylers Green CC - 2nd XIThis week brought back the start of the traditional format of 90 overs WLD. --Hurley CC - Sunday 1st XI Vs Binfield CC - Friendly 2nd XIHurley Sunday XI recorded their second victory of the season, with a comfortable win over Binfield.

Bangladesh lost to South Africa by four runs in a low-scoring thriller in New York at the Twenty20 World Cup but a controversial call by the umpire in the 17th over cost Bangladesh four runs. As per International Cricket Council rules, once the umpire gives a decision the ball is declared dead. If the umpire had not given him out, Bangladesh would have had four leg-byes added to their total. After Mahmadullah asked for a decision review under the DRS system, the replay clearly showed the ball was missing the stumps. Bangladesh caught out at the last as South Africa win at T20 World Cup

INACTIVITY UP(You can now subscribe to our(You can now subscribe to our Economic Times WhatsApp channelBritain's labour market showed more signs of cooling in April as the unemployment rate rose, an awkward development for Prime Minister Rishi Sunak ahead of the July 4 election, despite another month of robust wage growth "The last parliament has been dismal for employment, and today's figures are the worst since the pandemic," said Tony Wilson, director of the non-partisan think tank, the Institute for Employment Studies. The jobless rate for the three months to April rose to 4.4% from 4.3% between January and March, the highest reading since the three months to September 2021, the Office for National Statistics said on Tuesday. Economists polled by Reuters had forecast no change in the rate. The number of employed people has fallen by 207,000 since the end of 2023, while unemployment has increased by 190,000, the data showed.Sterling fell after the data and government bond prices rose. "For the first time since Thatcher's first term, the number of people in work has fallen, down by around 40,000 since Boris Johnson's victory," Wilson said, referring to Britain's labour market since the December 2019 election. The opposition Labour Party is on course to win the national election on July 4, according to opinion polls which give Keir Starmer's party a roughly 20-point lead over the governing Conservative Party.Sunak, whose pitch to voters rests on the idea that the economy is improving under his management, can at least point to a robust increase in wages, adjusting for inflation.Average weekly earnings excluding bonuses, and adjusted for the consumer price index, rose 2.3% in the three months to April compared with a year ago - the strongest such reading in nearly three years.Britain's inactivity rate - measuring people not in work and not looking for employment - rose to 22.3%, its highest since mid-2015, highlighting what the Bank of England sees as a source of inflation in the labour market. The number of inactive workers due to long-term sickness rose to a new record high of 2.3 million.Sunak has promised to tighten sickness benefit rules if re-elected, a reform his Conservative Party has said would eventually save 12 billion pounds ($15.3 billion) a year - a goal that economists think would be hard to achieve.Media reports said Sunak was expected to announce later on Tuesday that he would cut social security contributions by a further two percentage points if the Conservatives defy the opinion polls and win the election.Cuts to National Insurance contributions are seen as a way to encourage more people into the labour market, although two recent two-point cuts have so far failed to stem the rise in inactivity.Wage growth data, a key gauge of inflation pressure for the Bank of England which is due to make its next policy announcement on June 20, remained hot.Nominal average weekly earnings excluding bonuses grew by 6.0% in the three months to the end of April compared with the same period a year earlier.Economists polled by Reuters had forecast wage growth of 6.1%.Wage growth in the private sector - also watched closely by the BoE as a gauge of domestic inflation pressure - cooled to 5.8% from 5.9% in the three months to April.Investors do not fully price a first quarter-point rate cut by the BoE before November. The ONS is still reworking its Labour Force Survey that measures unemployment, employment and inactivity, and repeated that Tuesday's figures should be viewed along with other gauges of the labour market, rather than as a definitive measure.

UK leader Rishi Sunak on Tuesday sought to get his lacklustre general election campaign back on track by promising voters tax cuts and lower immigration as he launched his Conservative party's manifesto. The prime minister channelled Tory heroine Margaret Thatcher by pledges of greater home ownership to woo a largely disaffected electorate away from poll front-runners Labour before the vote on July 4. Critics also point to record-low levels of house building and high mortgage rates under the party, blamed on the plan of unfunded tax cuts by Truss, Sunak's short-lived predecessor. He accused Labour of wanting to increase the tax burden on households, though the figures are in dispute. When asked by journalists if rumours he would resign were true, Sunak told broadcasters Monday: "No, of course not.

[5]Over the past 12 years, the Russian law on foreign agents has been repeatedly toughened. The Russian Ministry of Justice began to label not just nonprofit organizations, but also public associations, journalists, and individuals as foreign agents. For example, they refuse to sign contracts with foreign agents and demand that they be removed from materials presented by them. The atmosphere in Texas looked great and I think it marks the day the World Cup really started. He scored 90-odd against Canada to see them home and now this in the Super Over – what a ICC Men’s T20 World Cup he has had already. It's never easy playing home, especially in a big occasion like a World Cup, because the expectation is so high. It is actually quite rare for a home team to win a T20 World Cup but hopefully this year will be a change of fortune. Having not qualified for the last ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup, this tournament is so important for cricket in the Caribbean.

Germany's Euro 2024 preparations have been thrown into disarray as two of their star players came to blows during a training session, just four days before their opening match. Despite the mounting pressure on Germany to clinch the trophy in front of their home crowd, tensions seem to be escalating within the team. Bild reports that ex-Chelsea and current Real Madrid ace Antonio Rudiger was embroiled in a training ground 'spat' with teammate Niclas Fullkrug. The pair were reportedly pitted against each other in a crossing drill during a public training session when Rudiger's aggressive tackle left the Dortmund striker cursing on the ground. Wagner had to pacify the irate defender, who then left the team training to jog with a fitness coach.
